8th Ed. List building help for 500 points gentlemen's league

I have at the end of the month a gentlemen's league that's mainly just for fun as you only get points for painted models and playing rather than winning games. Every 2 month's the army size increase by 250pts.
Now my query is that I am very much so new to fantasy and have bought myself
2 battalion boxs
1 sauras box
1 stegdon that I have magnetized since I love magnets haha
Mage priest
Gor Rok

I wonder if anyone has tips or insights for list building centered around Gor Rok for fluff.

Any help for this new lizard dino loving player would be fantastic.

Cannot use Gor-Rok, he is over the allotted points for 500.

Trying to fit a Steg in such a low point army will be nearly impossible because then you have little else.

Maybe:

Scar-Vet
-Sword of Might
-Enchanted Shield
-L. Armor
*2+ AS with S6 attacks, not too bad

19 x Saurus Warrior
-Full Command
*Fielded 5 or 6 wide

10 x Skink Skirmishers
-Javelins and Shields

6 x Chameleon Skinks

Until you hit around 1k, I wouldn't think about taking a Steggy. With the above list, you can always drop the Scar Vet at your next point bump and put in Gor-Rok

So:

Gor-Rok

23 x Saurus Warrior
-Full Command
*Fielded 6 wide

10 x Skink Skirmishers
-Javelins and Shields

6 x Chameleon Skinks

10 x Skink Cohort
-Kroxigor
-Musician
-Poisoned Attacks
