7th Ed. how good is feigned flight?

I plan on taking skinks and a skink chief with a terradon and the plaque of dominion and was just wondering how likely this would screw me over?

and when fleeing will they fly over my own troops? just wonderinf if I can use that to trick my enemy into pursueing into a unit of swarm or skinks with kroxigors?

They will fly over your own troops, and I'm pretty sure even if they land on your own troops they will go just beyond them. Not entirely sure about panic checks, although the swarms wouldn't care anyway.

Feigned flight is GREAT to answer your main question. Using them to charge bait your enemy is exactly the kind of thing you want to do with them. Feigned flight just lets them get back into the action even quicker to do the same thing again and toss their javelins.

I heard another awesome tactic to perform with the Terradons. It is very situational however. In the case your enemy likes to have big blocks of units with smaller shielding squishy units in front.

Fly directly over both units. Land behind the big block. Drop rocks on the squishy unit in front. Hopefully your rocks do enough damage to cause a panic test. You may even destroy the unit out right. If (and this is a big IF) the unit does flee or is destroyed there will come a time when the big unit needs to take a panic test also. IF (and thats an even bigger if than the first one) they fail their panic test they will flee directly away from the source of the panic (the destroyed or fleeing unit) and run directly into your Terradons and be automatically destroyed.

I think something that could also happen is the screening unit in the front panics and runs through the unit it is screening, and gets destroyed by the terradons on the other side.

It is for this sort of thing that I plan on taking two units of 4 terradons.

Brilliant tactic, but very situational, as you have already pointed out. Two failed Ld - tests is not that much though. And IF you just kill off/panic/reduce the shielding unit, you will still have accomplished something, so most likely u get som sort of reward anyway. Definitively worth trying

I thought paniced units run away from the unit that caused the panic. So if the squishy unit panics and the terradons are BEHIND them, they will run forward and completely miss the other unit you're trying tp panic.

well think about it this way.

take the terradons away and replace them with old ww2 dive bombers

where would the release their bombs to hit their target? Right before they fly over them......or after they already passed them.

It's done in the remaining moves but they were actually dropping them when they were in front.

the rocks just don't hit till the terradons have already gone to the other side.

remember warhammer and 40k battles may look static and slow moving but they are really action packed. with constant movment and such.

If this turns out to be the case, you'll still have really good control over the direction the enemy panics. Just land the terradons so that the enemy will flee into one of your own units or even across their entire battle line. I can see cases where this would be even better then the enemy running away from the incoming direction of rocks.
