7th Ed. how do you transport your army

I use those stupid black briefcase looking things GW sells.

it SUUUUUUUUCKS
tails getting stuck, planquin and steg don't fit it's a night mare.

I need a new transport case and wondering what you guys use
 
I'm pathetic AND cheap...

My travel case consists of a large shoe box (work boots) and 2 old t-shirts...

I just put some models, then a t-shirt layer....more models...and I top it off with a t-shirt...

It has actually been working pretty well, nothing broken yet, nothing slides when I drive or anything...

It's not indestructable, but it works...

Tackle box. The big ass fishing things, that fold out. You can just lump your warriors into the little slots and put bigger monsters and things into the open area in the bottom. They cost about 20 bucks, and you can hold the handle on the top without tipping them sideways.
 
I used my skull pass box, sectioned it of with cardboard to fit the units just lines and lines it with bubble wrap. All of it held together with hot glue gun glue :)
 
I acctually use the giant briefcase from GW. Don't really have anyt trouble with it as I've been cuting out lots of all those foam walls to make way fo my units.
Now I've almost exclusively used it for my 40K Eldar and Battlefleet gothic ships, so I haven't really tried with Lizardmen yet (yes, I'm still new on fantasy) But I like the way it holds everything in place and is sturdy and easy to transport.

But if anyone knows of something better it would be great as I'm probably going to need another one so I can transport more than one army when I'm playing multiple games. ^^
 
I ordered 2 sets of the 3 foam trays from GW (same as the large army case). A standard bankers box will hold a stack 6 high with no issues. Not bad for $60CAD including the box. I have the small case for my Tomb Kings infantry/characters and cavalry. I needed to supplement that with a couple of custom modified plastic storage cases (foam lined) for all the chariots and larger models.

I've had a good experience tryas wise from http://www.figuresincomfort.net/catalogue/index.php although it has just changed hands.
 
I have heard people using magnetic bases to get their miniatures to stay in place inside of whatever container you want to bring them in. If you use magnetic movement trays you can set up your army at home, put them in the box and simply pull them out and set them on the table and be ready to go. If you google magnetic bases I'm sure there is a tutorial somewhere.
 
I got a Sabol army bag.
I fit my Tyranid army and my Lizardmen army in it.
That is all.

I have an empty box of Jagermeister, with the cardboard inserts still in it. I wrap each unit up in bubblewrap and that works just fine for me. I'm saving up for some Battlefoam, though.

Alright, another Tyranid player! Are you excited about the new codex or what???

Yeah, I've looked at battlefoam and I gotta say I'm impressed. You can even come up with you're own logo's to print on the foam... whoa. I'm sure you can get the set up where you can put whole movement trays of magnetized miniatures in. That would save a lot of set up time.

Its a very cool company, you may not believe me but I know the CEO of the company, I'm actually really good friends with him he hangs out in our local store alot.

A little bit excited, a little bit scared.
This is nothing compared to the Lizard's update.
Now, not to de-rail the topic. :)

In my opinion battlefoam isn't a top priority for me.
Mostly because I can find so many bags in Sweden already that it isn't even funny.

Over the years, I have tried many things. Egg crate bed toppers and some VHS storage boxes or egg crate lined hand gun cases. It has worked well... especially for the price. But now that I am all grown up, proud to
be playing Warhammer again, Lizardmen are my latest collection of a 3K point army, I have picked up the GW army case and the smaller case. Just need to see if I am going to leave my Eldar stuck in the 80s storage boxes or not! I like the custom foams that are now available, and wouldnt mind swapping those out of the GW boxes, especially since they aren't attached to the walls of the case.

Have you noticed its very hard to find egg crate bed toppers anywhere here in the US, its all memory foam, and as for plastic gun cases (which were perfect for games of Mordheim or Necromunda, but especially for Blood Bowl) they are now merely hand gun bags with a lining. It is amazing how times change even for items you may have thought would be pretty easy to find even 20 years later.

Well I'm seeing a difference.

I always used a plastic case from a 1$ shop. It has many compartments and with some bulky toilet paper they are kind of secure there.

I suggest that you first check one of those kind of shops but ofc I might have been 'lucky'.
 
my whole army (besides stegs) fit in my stegedon box set. i layer them with each layer separated by towels. and the stegs get their own boxes where they are protected by.... u guessed it TOWELS! lol
 
An old large toolbox with cushioning layers of plastic bubble wrap and the airbag wrap stuff that's packaged in GW box deliveries has served my armies well. My Blood Bowl teams go in a plastic tupperware lunchbox thing with layers of foam to protect them - as they're only 16 models each it doesn't take up a great deal of space to store them.
 
I use several of these puppies:

Got them for free from my old work. I use egg foam in them to rest models on and pack more foam on top. The foam backing from blister packs is worth keeping, after 10 years in the hobby you end up with a lot that work nicely for padding wherever needed. :) The most important part is to make sure the models cannot move around because that is when they break. You can put an ojk amount of pressure on them from foam with no trouble, but if they can roll around they break easy.
