I have 150 points to spare for characters for a competitve list. I have 2 units of 20 Saurus, ten skinks, and a Salamander so far.

What should I take for a character? How about a Level 2 Skink Priest with Diadem of Power and Ruby Ring of Ruin? Or perhaps a Scar Veteran with Fencer's Blades, Light armour, mounted with ironcurse icon?

I would pick a priest for the size of the game.

I played against Skaven - I used a priest. It took two wounds off a doomwheel, that's it. But I think it will be more effective against ethereals.

Defenitly take ruby ring as it has a low casting value so you can probably cast it every phase and most opponents won't bother dispelling and if they do thats fine cause they won't be dispelling the rest of your spells.

True. I took the ring for ethereal killing. One Fireball can wipe out a whole unit of Hexwraiths.

Guess it depends on what you're up against. Since its a small game, there'll be a chance that your opponent has no wizard, and you might argue that having no magic is fine. I'd probably go with a skink priest in 90% of the cases cause I'd really hate to miss out on the magic phase.

Scar vet missile FTW, and he can still have the ring.
