Hey everybody. I have decided to bring Lizardmen for the semi-final round of the ‘Ardboyz. I have played my lizzie army before, but not enough to be confident going into the next round. I’m asking for you to critique this list and make suggestions as you see fit. Please explain your suggestion though.
·Slann
Transcendent Healing, The Focused Rumination, Higher State of Consciousness, BSB, Plaque of Tepok, Bane Head, Dispel Scroll
·Saurus Oldblood
Carnosaur, L. Armor, Blade of Realities, Enchanted Shield
·Skink Priest
EotG, Lvl 2, Rod of the Storm, Diadem of Power
·Skink Priest
Horned One, Biting Blade
·10 Skink Skirmishers; blowpipes
·10 Skink Skirmishers; javelins, shields
·20 Saurus Warriors; FC, spears
·20 Saurus Warriors; FC
·20 Temple Guard; FC, War Banner, Burning Blade of Chotec
·Stegadon
·5 Cold One Cavalry; Champion, Musician
I’m thinking of going in with a heavy slann to try and get some spells off in the magic phase. I know I am taking a risk without Cupped Hands of the Old Ones and I am not sold on leaving that item behind. Plaque of Tepok frees up a slann ability and I decided on going for protection for my frog, he is a lot of points. The Bane Head is for demon lords and powerhouse vampires. If I can successfully hit one of them with a spell from the Lore of Light, the wound will double.
The Oldblood is in there to hunt a demon if I need to. I don’t know if the Blade of Realities will work against it, but if they do fail that critical roll, the investment will have definitely paid off.
I know the priest on a cold one is an odd selection. What my thinking is for this model is to put him in the cold one cavalry for some protection and get him in a place where I have a better shot to channel a spell through him from the slann.
I chose Temple Guard for the slann. They are tough as nails and an imposing unit. I went big with the numbers for survivability. The unit champion gets the Burning Blade, I figure three attacks at –3 AS is impressive.
Two big blocks of Saurus warriors will be the my center line of the army, depending on enemy deployment and terrain of course.
Please let me know if I am on a decent line of thinking for this army composition. Feel free to rip into my character selection and their respective configuration, just please be constructive, I am very open to suggestions and amendments.
