8th Ed. Help with 1000pt List

Alright so I've been out of the loop since 6th edition and have been trying to create a simple army for an upcoming game at the FLGS. Unfortunately I am a bit lacking on core and Don't think my new bunch of skinks/saurus will be in before the game sooo...

Trying to get this to work. As it is, I've got maybe 60 points left? Should I just consider going for 1200 or 1500pts instead?
The other models I have are like, my slann, 23 templeguard, 7 CoC

Drop the shield and get great weapon on your scar vet.
I'd probably also make the one cohort unit a skirmish unit.

Otherwise it looks fine.

Potion of speed with a great weapon? Make it a potion of foolhardiness, secondly run no cowboy in these games! An oldblood with 1+|4++ on foot is incredible in these sizes
