First try at a 1000p army with the new rulebook. Note that I have yet to play my first battle of warhammer, so any advice, even the simplest ones, are welcome.

Heroes
Scar-Veteran: Sword of Striking, Glittering Scales, Ironcurse Icon, Shield
Skink Priest: Dispel Scroll, Lore of Beasts

Core
19 Saurus Warrors: Full Command
21 Skink Cohorts w/ 2 Kroxigors: Skink Brave, Musician

Special
Bastiladon: Solar Engine
6 Chameleon Skinks
6 Chameleon Skinks

If my calculations are correct I have 14 points to spare, don't know what to do with them really, only thing I can think of is adding two skinks to the Skrox block. Scar-Vet goes with the Saurus Warriors, Skink Priest goes with the Skrox block. The Skink Brave is there to protect the priest from challenges. I will be up against Skaven, therefor the Ironcurse Icon, other teams are Dark Elves and Greenskins. Thoughts?

14 eh... should be enough to get a couple more Skinks.... :smug: :smug:

Solid list for a first shot.

I'd consider the following: drop 1 unit of chamos and a sinkle cohort skink. Together with your 14 pts left over, that gives you enough points to boost your priest to lvl 2 and a unit of 10 skirmishers if I'm not mistaken. Both gives you a bit more flexibility. I'd equip the skirmishers with jav + shields.
If you drop another cohort skink you can give your scarvet the luckstone wich is always a good investment imo.

Hope that helps

I was also thinking about level 2 for the priest, but the problem is that I already spent 219p on heroes, if I add level 2 I will exceed the 25% on heroes limit by 4p. I could drop the shield on the Scar-Vet, but is that worth it?

I think a very solid list for a beginner. well done.

i only suggest this change to make the scar-vet considerable better, and it utilises some of those spare points.

Scar-Vet
-Light Armour
-Enchanted Shield
-Dawnstone
-Iron Curse Icon
-Sword of Striking

this guy is now rocking a 2+ rerollable armour save and still hits well as you planned and still gives his unit a 6+ ward against war machines.

VERY solid build for 1k, to go with your already solid army build.

Okay so here's a remade list with some of the advice taken into consideration.

Heroes
Scar-Veteran: Sword of Striking, Enchanted Shield, Dawnstone, Ironcurse Icon, Light Armour
Skink Priest: Dispel Scroll

Core
19 Saurus Warriors: Full Command
24 Skink Cohorts w/ 2 additional Kroxigor: Skink Brave, Musician
10 Skink Skirmishers

Special
Bastiladon: Solar Engine
6 Chameleon Skinks

This leaves me at exactly 1000p. I would really like level 2 on the priest, but I can't get it to fit within the 25% limit on heroes :(

Scar-Veteran: Sword of Striking, Enchanted Shield, Dawnstone, Ironcurse Icon
Skink Priest: Dispel Scroll

Decent, though its only a 3+ armour save at the mo. he needs the light armour as well for 2+, but at 1k it will work. i wouldn't worry about not having a level 2, the dispel scroll is more important plus you have the bastilidon to throw power dice at. remember the bound spell the solar engine fires is "innate". that means it cannot break if you roll double 6 to cast, it just means the enemy cannot stop it :D

Core
19 Saurus Warriors: Full Command
24 Skink Cohorts w/ 2 additional Kroxigor: Skink Brave, Musician
10 Skink Skirmishers

Looks solid, though i would swap the brave for a standard.

Special
Bastiladon: Solar Engine
6 Chameleon Skinks

All good

As i said befor eits very solid. Time to get out there and smash some skulls.

Oh, forgot to write Light Armour! I had it in my calculations, so he's rocking the 2+ re-rollable save now :)
As for the Skink Brave, I thought that I could use it to protect the priest from challenges. The Skrox and the Saurus blocks are probably gonna end up in the same fight (or I'm gonna try and make it that way anyway) so I thought I might not need another standard since you don't get any bonus for having two in the same fight.

Thats true, however one of the scenarios for fantasy is based around how many standards you have.

Not a major thing but generally a standard is far better than a champion.

unless the unit gets double teamed the priest can just decline the challenge, or drop 2 skinks to afford the standard.
