For our next campaign we are playing @1,5K.

With the new book in hand i'm trying to figure out a (in theory) solid "allcomers list".

Please shoot @ the list! Shoot hard!

Characters:
Priest lvl 1: Beast
- scroll

Priest lvl 1: Beast
- cube

Cowboy Vet

Core:
24 SW
- Muso

-I'm in doubt about the gear....spears or H/S. --> I'm leaning towards spears right now.

2 x 10 skink cohorts
- jav & shield

Special:
2 x 1 Bastiladon
- The Blasty version (I really really like this guys!)

1 x 4 Krox

2 x 5 Chameleon skinks

Rare:
2 x 1: Sallie

thoughts....

* With the two priests (scroll, cube) and the two Blasties i hope to generate enough atk and def in the magic phase.
--> What would you do..... First go for the Blasties bound spell, to drain DD and then go for wildform or the other way around?

* Cowboy Vet: Well what can i say....never leave home without it ;)

* SW: I'm leaning to spears due the PF rule. The more atks, the more chances to roll 6's.

* Skink cohorts. Priest hideouts..... and poison darts as a gift for some units.
--> still trying to find out to sqeeeeeeeze in muso for these guys. The +1 LD to rally can make a difference....

* Krox. A nice unit imho (12 wounds, PF, str. 7 and pretty fast......What's not to like.)

* Chameleons: I really like this unit. If my opponent does not hold them into account when deploying. They can ruin your day within one turn.....

* Sallies: I still pick these little fellows over razordons, but with the point difference of 15 pts. a piece.....Whatya think?

Let the shooting begin ;)

Anyone?
I know it's theoryhammer, but plzzzz ;)

Characters: Not bad, some solid magic defense and a hard as nails General who can be a swiss army knife for troubleshooting those difficult units.
Priest lvl 1: Beast
- scroll

Priest lvl 1: Beast
- cube

Cowboy Vet

Core: A solid combat block and some nice support units. In the old book I always went for spears on saurus with 20 or more models, I just found it more preferable to have a higher potential damage output, and with spears being free now, along with Predatory Fighter, spears are still going to be my go to set up. You might want to try to squeeze in some banners here for the Blood and Glory battle.Standards are better for saurus than musicians, the +1CR is more useful than the +1 if Drawn and swift reform. Musicians on skink cohorts might be an option as the can make better use of swift reform.
24 SW
- Muso

2 x 10 skink cohorts

Special:Blastodons (sounds like a pokemon . . . . . Are pretty nifty with the passive +1I buff. Despite not being "great" in combat, I'd try to get these guys in pretty quickly, they are protected from being shot up when they've gone wading in the enemy ranks, just try to get in on a flank or corner if possible. Krox are tasty, point them at heavy cavalry and chariots and watch them explode after you've charged. Chameleons are Chameleons, always a solid option.
2 x 1 Bastiladon
- The Blasty version (I really really like this guys!)

1 x 4 Krox

2 x 5 Chameleon skinks

Rare: Probably your best bet against horde units, but if you are at all worried about chaf units disrupting your ranks or getting in your back field and wrecking your priests Razordons are an option for that. Its a toss up, Sallies roast big infantry units, Razors pepper the annoying as hell harassing units.
2 x 1: Sallie

Good list all round, give it a whirl.

Magic Phase: I would lead with the Bastildon's ability. This should draw out some dispel dice and enable your Priests to case. Priest are not very good during the magic phase when they're your only caster. I wouldn't count to much on them getting spells off.

Spears vs HW: I typically prefer HW. IIRC Spears don't get the extra rank attack on the turn YOU charge. With 24 you're probably going to have 4 ranks, as 6 wide is the best with them. With our low Init you're probably gonna lose an entire rank before you get to attack. So down to 3 ranks and that 3rd one can't attack yet unless they charged. I like Spears, I just think you need more SW to endure the enemies attack.

I like Skirmishers over Cohorts unless you're throwing Krox in there.

Chameleons are always good.

Salamanders are almost always good.

2 Bastildons aren't bad. It's going to help with your magic phase alot.

This is just a minor thing, depending on what kind of supporting units you like/opponents you face:

By dropping a salamander and a chameleon unit, you have enough points for a unit of terradons/rippers. As well as a 6th* chameleon skink and maybe some extra saurus bodies.

*:the 6th guy really outperformes the others, at least at my table! Personal thing.

That way, you have skinks, chameleons, terradons and a salamander. Which adds a tad more variety.

Either way is a nice setup. Just wanted to throw it out there.
