8th Ed. First Game, Play and Learn List.

My first battle is coming up, it will be 1000pts (friendly) against Ogres.
The idea is that I want to test out different units and learn how to use them, I realise that salamanders, TG and Kroxigor are not exactly suited to ogres (correct me if I'm wrong).
This list is very general, not tailored to beat ogres and it lacks unit upgrades for the moment.
I would appreciate any feedback or tips, Thanks guys.

Skink Priest lvl 2, Plaque of Tepok,

24 Saurus Warriors (would 2 units of 12 be better?)

Skrox Unit; 16 Skinks, 2 Kroxigor

10 Skink Skirmishers

10 Temple Guard (possibly with a banner)

5 Chameleon Skinks

5 Chameleon Skinks

Salamander +1 handler

If I'm right that works out to 999 points.

10 TGs with no Slann is a complete waste of points and as you play with them completely differently than a big unit with a Slann it doesn't really help you learning how to play with TGs. Other than that it seems like a pretty perfect list to learn how to play with.

So you don't reckon the TG will be worthwhile then? if that is the case what would be a better use of the 160 points? Some upgrades etc or maybe adding another unit or character even?

lose tg, add in some more skinks to the skrox unit, and ad an other unit of skirmishers

Turtlenecks suggestion seems like a good way to go. Personally I'd probably add Full command to your Saurus unit and buff your skrox unit to 24 skinks with 3 krox as that size is about the same as you would go for in 2000-2400 pts battles. With the rest of the points you could either boost your cammo skinks to 6 & 7 or add FC to the skrox unit and add 1 cammo.
