its a discipline

he doesnt become ethereal, he becomes immuun to mundane attacks, it kinda is a must when u dont have a tg bunker

most people play him , stubborn and ethereal to tie up a unit without magic attacks
 
Correct! And it is well worth it in some situations (like the one with no TG). I like to take an Etheral slann and bunker him in a unit of 40 saurus. I give him the crown of command as well to make the unit almost like a unit of TG.

that is one way to play it

if u feel like u dont want / need the tg caus u prefer stegadons like i do! muahahaha
