7th Ed. EotG or Ancient Spearadon

I am doubting between EotG or A. Spearadon, d6 xtra impact hits and 3 S 6 attacks from the chief, or an extra DD and Pd and some usefull powers, I like the engine, cuz he can defend against shooting, ok he has d6 less impact hits, but BA will do d6 S4 hits with no AS, I want magic heavy, but even with spearadon instead of EotG i still have a slann and 2 priests(with EotG i have a Slann and another priest, cuz spearadon is a little cheaper and i found a way to shave of some points )

I went with EOTG simply because it is awesome. I have not used the spearadon yet. The engine is amazing when you get the BA to go off with descent range (plus it cannot be dispelled and works on units in combat). Give the priest an amulet of itzl (I think that is the one 2+ ward save vs 1st wound) and you basically get a free wound. That gives the priest a 2+ armor save, then a 2+ ward save=extra wound.

Neither really. They both put way too many points into rather squishy Skink characters. I currently use neither and quite enjoy not having a ton of Stegadons. If I had to choose, EotG because it essentially gives you a level 3 Wizard and can give you a lot of defensive options as well.

if you're going magic heavy, EotG all the way imo.

i find the spearadon fairly useless, because any opponent with half a brain will know what the skink chief has as soon as he's deployed, and make sure he never gets a good charge in.

i will always choose the EotG over the A. Steg w/ warspear. although you may get 2D6+1 impact hits, you get D6+1 impact hits with the EotG and get to use burning alignment as well, which is no AS and it could take out models that are next to you. so you get to do damage to more than just the unit that has charged your or you charged them, but to units surrounding them which really helps.

I went with the Engine of the Gods simply because it has soo many uses that he Spearadon cant compete with. First of all there is a wizard in it which you can make to be basically a level 3 and so he can do some damage that way. Second is the protective power which comes in handy against shooty armies. Third is the magic draining power can be moderately helpful and lastly the the burning alignment which can be extremely mean.
Overall the engine is better

The engine is certainly more versatile, but remember you have to consider the rest of your amry and your playing style. Most of the time you will probably want to avoid combat wit the engine to keep his priest safe, only if you get an opportunistic flank charge or maybe if there is no characters in the target unit. The warspear, you just want to get into combat as quickly as possible.

I think I'll go with EotG wich was my preference after all, since I like magic
