I'm kicking around the idea of running some numbers through the old damage calculator, and I think I'm going to do a run-down of all of the buffs and curses in the 8th edition lores. So I want some input on what you all think would be the best "representative" from each race against which I should run the numbers. I'm thinking plain old saurus warriors would make a good candidate for lizardmen, since most armies include them.
I'm looking for what you consider the toughest match-ups for each race. Feel free to include any buffs that your unit of choice tends to have on it, like beastmen have primal fury, or a DE hatred + cauldron effect, etc. If it is something unreliable, like counting on a spell to go off, then don't include it.
To simplify, infantry will be ranked 5 wide. I will also assume each side has enough models to attack back with the first 2 ranks. Also, this will be based entirely on average performance, with D6 counting as 3.5 and D3 counting as 2. I will evaluate the spells individually, then for each lore, I will add up the most effective results against each target to form a total to represent that lore's effectiveness overall. This is the best way I can think of to evaluate it that will not take forever. I will be working on it a bit at a time, should finish this weekend sometime.
Current candidates
Beastmen –
Bretonnia –
Daemons of Chaos –
Dark Elves –
Dwarfs –
Empire –
High Elves –
Ogre Kingdoms –
Orcs and Goblins –
Skaven –
Vampire Counts –
Warriors of Chaos –
Wood Elves –
Tomb Kings omitted for obvious reasons…
