If you read carefully the rules in the little red book, and apply it, do I'm wrong or you can place a steg with chief in a unit of skinks?!!XD Your steg will be protected from shoothing and will give is stuborn to the unit until the char is slain!!XD I'm talking about monster mounts joining a unit! THat would be insanse, ins't it?

But!? The Steg is will never gain Look Out Sir, and will always be large, so it can always be targed by cannons, unit or not. So you're not really loosing anything, or gaining anything - except you bring t2 ws2 skinks into the combat with the steggie. Dosen't seems like a good idea to me.

The best thing about the EoTG is protecting your Priest from challenges since you can have another hero or champ accept in his place. It also keeps heroes and champs of other units from attacking the priest by challenging them with your hero/champ. The 2+ AS usually keeps him alive against standard rank and file.

That is what I found to be the best benefit in my experience.
