For my next tournament I'm taking two units of 10 skimirishers.

In a practice game His line had a giant in the center so I wanted my skinks in range soon so I put them infront of my saurus and skrox blocks and moved everything forward, I found that the skinks wrecked some havoc (on my side) by getting in the way, blocking charges or when I fled charge they ended up just stopping infront of my units, backlogging me.

A) Deploy skinks to the wings to keep em out of the way?
B) Always stand and shoot and just get destroyed rather than risk an short flee and blocking things up?
C) Deploy in front of main blocks only if archers are on the other side?

Thoughts or how you deploy you skinks skirmishers

D) stagered deployment.

something like....

(salamander) (skinks) (saurus) (skinks) (templeguard) (skinks) (saurus) (skinks) (salamander)

That way when they flee its usualy through a gap in my line. and drawing the enemy closer to my saurus blocks.

Way back in 7th edition, I would use them in front of my saurus to shield the saurus from shooting. Now, I rarely put any skirmishers in front of them. They can do the same thing from the side as they do in front of the unit.

Is charge baiting pretty much a dead tactic now in 8th edition? Seems to be very hard to do because of the redirects and charges being declared and responded to one by one, instead all at the same time.

Yea, unless it is a frenzied unit. But even then, I think they can test to redirect.
