AoS Coming back after long absence

Long time lizard men player, yeah they are still lizardmen to me but I’m getting used to Seraphon. Only played 2 games of AoS when it released. Bought 2nd edition book and all the generals handbooks, but haven’t played a single game. Where do I start? I have decent sized army. Cost $150+ just to get bases to rebase them all. What is good? Bad? I have 80ish warriors, 40ish temple guard, 50ish knights, 120+ skinks, 6 terradon, 6 ripperdactyl, 3 stegadons, and at least a couple of every model except characters. I still have to rebase them all, but where do I start and what do I look out for? Very excited for the new battle tome.

I would start by rebasing and wait for the new Battletome, useless I would say to try anything before as you’ll have to relearn everything!!

As we don’t know what going to be good or not give it a few weeks and see when it comes out and take it from there would my suggestion.

Perhaps get a slant but then again who knows if he’ll be good or not probably will but never know

I recommend taking your time and just focusing on rebasing.

New Battletome out soon, likely before the end of Feb, so everything is up in the air. You could run a few small games to get the basics back in your head, and adapt it to 2.0, but for Seraphon, there's so much that could change that learning all of the warscrolls now might be pointless.

Welcome back! I’ve rebased all my lizardmen for around 20 bucks. I orde it from Aliexpress (China, maybe wait a few months now:p) Not the most ecofriendly way to have it shipped (but for 10 bucks you could also plant some trees) The quality is really good. And tbh it is just round plastics. Just wanted to give a tip on not having to spend to much on bases. Rather buy models and paints =D

Like others have said, our battletome release is around the corner. I would start by debasing a bit of everything so that you can try out new rules. I assume the Slann is likely to remain mandatory :D
 
@mattblowers Ah, another Nid player emerges from the jungle. When not consuming biomass, show some people all about how THE PLAN works, lol.

Welcome, and brace for impact. Three weeks until the new battletome, I guess. Maybe hold off on rebasing until then, to get a feel for order of importance.

I think everybody who thought about a throwdown would run screaming from this thread, poor position Nids are in currently or not, lol.



This is from Armies on Parade two years ago when I just finished this army... the Lictors with city bases are for Kill Team. Currently on hold, working on 1250 points of GSC for monthly tournaments at my local store.

I would start rebasing skinks, Terradons, Ripperdactyls and Stegadons. That would be a lot of work to start with.
Also, basing is important for me so I would decide the base theme for my whole army and buy enough stuff to base the entire army so the bases dont look missmatching in the future :)

I am rebasing my stuff too :)
 
Welcome along!

I am not(yet) a player of AoS, but from reading around here: it doesn't have to be an issue using Square bases in AoS.

So I would hold of rebasing for now, unless you really want to because you feel you need rounds.

oh I know... I am a Nids player myself... 40 h gaunts, 40 t gaunts, 1 each tyrannofex, exocrine, wingrant, swarmie O1E, broodlord 3 each carnifex's, biovore, pyrovore, 9 warriors 20 gargoyles, 2 primes, 24 stealers... and that's a like nothing to what I just saw... im a splinter fleet at best lol
