7th Ed. Chakax+ slann in 2250?

I really haven't started LM yet and I would really like to know since I can almost gaurentee that I will have chakax in my army, ( I love the model, I enjoy his rules, and I really like his fluff...however I know he's rather pricey..) Is it a viable option to include them both in a 2250 point game? or would it be better to try and just take him and some temple gaurd and possibly an O.B. for lord?

I have never played a game with Lizardmen nor do I even 1k points, just an eotg and 10 TG and I really don't know what works for LM, any advice would be gratefully accepted.

yesterday iplayed against my friend i had chakax with my unit i thought hed survive my friend brang archaon and challenged him he died in the first turn of the combat ide rather get gor rok

Chakax, Slann and TG makes a very expensive point sink of a unit. Somewhere around the 1000 point mark. Way too much IMO, a very risky unit. I wouldn't do it. Its not really worth taking them without a Slann, his benefits are really boosted in the presence of one.

What I suggest is use Chakax as your TG unit champ, that is what I am going to do since you are right it is an absolutely beautiful model and hard to leave out.

and it might make the unit a bit more scarier if you dont immediately say at the beginning of the game "this isn't chakax"

But ya that seems to be the best idea, However does anyone think that at the 3k mark or even the 2500k mark it could work with actually using the chakax slann combo?

Such an expensive unit, it wouldn't matter how big the battle was I would be very skeptical of fielding it... Unless it was absolutely huge like 5k plus where you need big expensive stuff to fill numbers.

Really, I haven't tried the unit, if you really like the idea of it then go for it and see how it goes. It will beat the vast majority of things it touches, very few lords are a match for Chakax in a challenge, but remember it is only M4 and it is only 1 unit. It cannot be everywhere at once. A lot of eggs in one basket. You would just have to try it a few times and see how you like it, its not my style but everyone plays differently.

Agreed. I ran that unit in a game once, Slann, TG, Chakax, and attemped to use it as the hammer and my saurus be an anvil. Unfortuantly, my oppenent was Chaos Warriors. He charged 2 units of knights into that unit and hit the flank with mauraders. I lost 12 TG that turn and Chakax was dealt a wound. The next turn the only units that were left were Slann and Chakax. Laters.

Though it was my fault a little by misreading my oppenent and letting him flank me.
Never running that unit again. Next time I'll use Chakax's 335 points for a Saurus unit and 2 units of skink skirmishers.

I find most...rather, all...the lizardmen special characters to be way to expensive. You can field alot more useful things with all the points you save. The TG + Slann block is more defensive then offensive anyway to I only ever run 16 temple guard and the slann and stay in the back. It's alos a point sink just to keep him alive (been considering solo-slann) but mage hunters can't do anything, and if you pick the right lore your enemy has to take magic to the face or rush across the board going through the rest of your army to try and kill the block of temple guard, which isn't easy.

My recent lists have really balanced the points out over alot of things, and I can't even begin to describe how much this is awesome. Having my Engine of the Gods killed for over 400pts doesn't even bother me, so many other points are spread out that I can lose just about any unit, and still have enough to fall back on, both power wise, and point wise. The game no longer becomes, kill the temple guard + slann block, or kill the Engine of the Gods and then coast to victory. Giving your enemy multiple deadly units to deal with allows you to handle your enemy better and defeat them.
