8th Ed. Campaign tourney list, need advice

Ok, starting wednesday my local GW is running a campaign tourney for about 4 weeks and i wanna win for the glory of the old ones being the only lizard player in my area.

It work you have 2k list plus 500 points of allys that must also be a legal list at 500 points.

I have chosen dwarfs as my ally on the basis they will be a proper alliance so it doesn't hinder my slaans magic phase and with runes they can stop the enemies. thats the theory anyway, i've also decided to go shooty with the dwarfs as its something we lizards lack.

Anyways here's the intended list:

Hero:

Skink preist
-EOTG
-Dispell scroll

Core:

24 saurus
-spears
-full command

Rare:

1 Salamander

=2000 points

Dwarf Allys

Hero:

Runesmith
-Rune Of Spellbreaking (dispel scroll)
-Rune Of The Furnace (flaming attacks)

Core:

20 Thunderers (better BS, armour piercing fun)

Rare:

Dwarf Organ Gun (auto hitting nastiness)

=500 points

Just wanted to say that, in my case, Skink priests [espacially when they are beefed up] NEVER killed enough enemies to make a tie on the points HE costed.
You m8 want to change for a cheaper but more effective heroe, I dont know exactly wich ones ARE good since Im used to play 7th, but you already have the dwarf to assist in magic with his scrolls.

and if I could choose allies Ogres would be my shooting backup (A) just to let u know :$.

i understand what you mean about the skink priest but to be honest he's only a level 1 and he's only there really to carry the dispel scroll, the steg still does what a steg does best, flank charging with terror, impact hits etc. and the EOTG is good for extra buffs. Plus he's not let me down yet. touch wood
