So does anyone have any opinion on the idea that our battalion abilities are now divided between the two factions (in essence halved) yet the points we pay per battalion have remained the same. Were our battalion previously over priced? Or did GW miss this detail in our rule book?

AFAIK there's a general tendency to diminish the buffs granted by battalions or to increase their cost. a CP alone is Worth 50 pts and the additional artefact is big plus.
Of course, when you're used to a certain thing for 5 years and then GW nerfs it, it's not pleasant.
So in essence your reply infers that our previous battalions were way under costed and that the new nerfs to our battalions have brought them into a more reasonable level?
Look... I'm not saying that our battalion cost should be 50% less... but when you remove 50% of the value I think that it is not unreasonable to expect a slight decrease in points to balance that change in value.

No, I'm saying that our previous battalion were under costed, so a change was expected.
IMO the nerf was excessive and they actually are overcosted.

yes, but only up to a certain point.
LoN, Nighthaunts, Cities of Sigmar… they have some good battalions that cost less than ours, and our "cheapest" one is 130 pts, and it's about big dinosaurs that are costly by themselves.
LoN got TWO 70 pts battalions (which is ridiculous)
At least CoS and KO are more in line with us.
