im new to 8th edition, and the rulebooks to expensive, can someone give me some basic rules , if so it would be much appreciated :rage:

mini-rulebooks from the Island of Blood boxed-set can be had for a fraction of the BRB cost on ebay: http://shop.ebay.com/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p5197.m570.l1313&_nkw=warhammer+rulebook&_sacat=See-All-Categories

I got mine for somewhere around $15 or $20...shipped.

Mine was about 25. Still worth it.

1. Never engage in close combat with Sword Masters
2. Never engage in close combat with a Hell Pit Abomination
3. Don't charge the Dwarf Lord - it's a trap! ("That rune does what?!")
4. The Bloodthirster will get you. You will not like it.
5. Stegadon + horde of White Lions = Stegagone
6. Chaos Warriors do not like S8 Saurus Warriors much.
7. The Doom Rocket always hits. You will not like it.
8. The Ratling Gun always misfires. You will like it.
9. Keep your Lustrian lizards looking lush with the latest Skinkcare products.
10. The Elves did it.
11. Post lists at ungodly hours.

Well... That sums it up pretty well right there.

+1, troubled_joe!

thanks guys, i have another suggestion of a good rule:

if you dont stop poking that salamander up the @ss u WILL be eaten

There are certainly units which can take it down. S6 unbreakable healable warriors would be a good start. And if it whiffs it's attacks or regen saves you could get lucky. But the odds are in its favour most of the time I reckon, especially considering it's so cheap. I can't think of anything Lizardmen would want to send against it except a dedicated Oldblood or a unit buffed in some horrendous way (T6-8, S8 etc). It's just going to rip everything else apart. Then again I don't suppose Lizardmen have any other way of dealing with it. If you try poisoning it it will have a grand old time as it can simply turn and 'random move' into the skinks, who have to 'hold' and can't stand a shoot.

get some TG's with the flaming banner and either I10 or ASF, both prefferably.

thatshitting on 3's wounding on 5's with no save.

assuming I10
15 Attacks (5 wide at least 2 ranks) means 10 hits with arround 3 wounds.

assuming ASF
20 attacks (same 5 wide, etc) means arround 14 hits with arround 5 wounds

get them both on the unit and the thing is dead.... statistically

shadow can also cast some nice debuffs, mostly to its S and T, but if you get the I down aswell the same unit will have a field day with it

also, best avoid it. i guess a big unit of skink skirmishers with flaming sword of rhuin cast on them would be able to take it down. you'd need about 36 shots so thats 18 skinks... statistically

Yeah the flaming banner is a good idea. Also, it's better than your calculations suggest - the Abomination is only toughness 5, so Temple Guard will be wounding it on a 4+. Yay!

oh my god. it's been so long i played with my skaven / against skaven i remember it as T6. you are right.

that would be 5 wounds with I10 and 7 wounds with ASF.
also, no "i'll be back" (arnold accent) roll due to flaming

You're not allowed to ask for GW rules, and we are not allowed to outright post GW rules since it is their copyright. They have shut down boards in the past. However, since no one seems to have posting anything wrong so far, I will leave this thread open.

Benny is right, ebay is a good place to get it cheap. You also can find it free in some places online, but again we are not allowed to post links to that kind of stuff or encourage it.
