There are many ways to reuse or UP-cycle styrene sprue. (Never throw it away...)
Check out this article:
- Ladders
- Treasure (in the form of gold bars)
- Rubble (chopped into short brick lengths)
- Decking (for ships/aeronefs/ironclads)
- Half-Timbers (on half timbered structures)
- Industrial Metal Barstock
- Railings

Not quite sure how/why it is on Bretonnia’s Forum but it shows much use of sprues, and an example of a ladder.
