AoS Are skink handlers mandatory?

Sorry if it's been addressed elswhere but I can't find the answer to this simple question:

Is it mandatory to have skink handlers if you have Razordons or Salamanders in your army?

Nope, they just give buffs to your living artillery.

The only case where they are mandatory, is if you field razors / sallies in a thunderquake starhost
