3000 exactly. Use Life for the Slann with BSB and stick him with Kroxigors. Use light for Slann with Divine and float him after kroxigors. Comments?

1) are you using 24 kroxs as 1 unit?

I think at 3K this list is definitely going to have some issues. It's an all your eggs in one basket approach, and I can see it easily getting flanked by multiple units and run down. It is an interesting list, but I do question its effectiveness at that point level.
 
yup, 24 as a horde. and yes flanking would be an issue. im thinking of it more as a hammer approach though. such as hurl it at the biggest unit/nasty they have and laugh, laugh, laugh. in all honestly the saurus would get chopped down in size and composition to run interference. toss some skink skirmishers in there to up the harrasment quotient.
 
Heres a couple thoughts I had about this.
1) make the first slann ethereal, to do this drop either Cogitation (not my preference for this) or the Loremaster discipline (this would be my choice to drop). Doing so would let you keep the slann out of the saurus unit and able to drift around the field behind your two massive blocks buffing and hexing as required. Try to give him the Plaque of Tepok and you won't notice the problem of losing Loremaster that much.
2) I would be tempted to drop the second slann and throw in a skink priest on Engine, or a couple cheap scar vets or an old blood. The Engine would be a huge cannon magnet but you do have three chamo units to help in that department, and would provide a great hammer on the flanks of units and be able to deal with units trying to flank your hordes. Dropping the slann for a hero or two would also give you some more points to play around with on your main units such as . . .
3) some more chamo skinks in those units, pumping out 14-16 shots per unit gives the thing a much improved threat over the minimum 10 (this is double tapping).
 
I'd consider breking the uber horde of kroxigors into two huge hordes os 12 each...

Ps. what lore is the slann using?
 
life for the bsb (in the krox unit) and light for the one hovering outside. life will keep those kroxigors kicking and light will make them so very speedy. imagine, if you will, kroxigors striking at initiative 10. just makes me warm and fuzzy. again, not meant to be a truly competitive list, just meant do wreck a house or two. plus, cant add more chameleons without dropping kroxigors. and splitting them would give me more attacks but id lose the rank bonus and have to cast the bubble light spells, meaning id get less spells off each round.
 
Unfortunately, initiative 10 and ASL means that the Kroxigor will be striking last against almost everything. So not nearly as effective. The WS 10 will definitely help though.
 
ha 36, that would be awesome. i only have plans for 30 though (see my 20,000k list post). and ASL strike last would be offset by ASF from the #6 spell i believe
 
Because the base size is not the same, wouldn't you have to put the slann beside the unit, and not in the unit of Krox? Just wondering.
 
that is correct. my thinking for placing him in the unit is if you maximize your frontage via another large horde (say on 25 mm bases) your only going to get 1 rank of attacks against him. plus id like to have regen on the unit :)
 
They cancel out eachother. You'd have to both get Timewarp and Speed'o'light up in order to go first (Still not rerolling to hit).

.. You can't run 36 kroxies at 3k, simply due to the fact that it's too many points in specials. 24 is the max you can run if you want those chameleons.

I've fought this lists a few times, and tbh you are going to be screwed without both cube of darkness and a dispell scroll, since one dwellers going off within the first 2 turns is going to loose you the game.

.. If you want to go moster inf hordes, go minuatours with lore of beasts ;)
 
did i say rerolling? i meant simply striking at I 10 and WS 10. Im aware of the point issue, a shame really :). not too worried about dwellers or pit or purple sun, thats what the slann is there for. getting either of those boosted spell variants off without 6's is mighty tough. and if they do? they wont get them all and ill just have to regrow like crazy :D

Yes, then they would be striking at I 10. But you would need to get both spells off to for sure make them that effective. One spell without the other will just not be quite effective.
 
Tbh, in 2k I regularly run lore of light, and grabbing re-rolls is usually a pretty easy thing, despite the mega dispels, Rumination almost always secures a strong cast.

I think we need pictures of this mega slakrox (Slann Krox unit) It'd be a sexy piece of war gaming :)
