Hi, I'm looking for an army to run Lore of Life, and Lizards seem to fit. Now, before I go an drop a ton of money, I want some thoughts to see if I at least have a decent list in mind.

Slann-Mage Priest (Lore of Life) (BSB)
Disciplines: Focus of Mystery, Higher State of Consciousness, Soul of Stone*, Focused Rumination
Items: Dragonbane Gem**, Curse Charm of Tepok

*I figure I can probably drop this with Lore of Life due to Throne of Vines...
** Dwarf Cannons are flaming a lot, so I threw this on there to use up some remaining points.

20 Temple Guard
FC, Standard of Discipline

I kind of like the combo of Standard of Discipline for the general's unit. For the Temple Guard to have it with a Slann in it, should make them very unlikely to fail a leadership check. Plus the Slann transfers a better leadership too.

Scar-Vet
Light Armor, Shield
Warrior Bane, Crown of Command

This guy makes the other primary block stubborn, and adds a magical attack in case it is needed... which will also prove annoying to monsters. He also adds a little better killing power to the Saurus Block, which could help give that slight edge against quality troops.

39 Saurus Warriors
Spears, FC

Horde, and with their strength, they should cause some hurt.

2 units of 10 skinks.

Chaff

2 units of 1 Salamander

4 Terradon Riders
I figure these could be used as chaff, or messing with warmachines.

2 Stegadons (regular)

The second one was thrown in as I wasn't sure what else to get, plus I think the double threat could be fun. Plus the bows have several uses, from dealing with monsters, warmachines, etc.

------------ A few thoughts on what I could do different ----------

Dropping Soul of Stone and maybe the champions I could probably get something small to support, but not sure what.

I would really appreciate your thoughts and advice.

You are probablly beter of with Becalming Cogitation. Forcing your enemy to drop 6s on Purple Sun, Good times! Since the slann is in a unit of Temple Guard, Higher State is also not very usful. Drop it and add Cupped Hands of the Old Ones to rebound Miscasts on enemy wizards.

Perhaps a cheap magic weapon or Venom of the Firefly Frog on your gueard champ. To give you something to wound any pesky etherial units.

I agree. I love Ld 10 Coldblooded bubble.

Throw in the Dragonhelm to get him down to 2+ AS. The CoC is only beneficial if your Scarvet stays alive. Another good build for this guy is on a coldone, CoC, Charmed Shield, and Biting Blade. 1+ AS, 2+ ward on first wound, armor piercing. Charge him out into a unit you want to hold up for a few rounds. On the downside, no Look Out Sir! as he is not the same unit type as his Saurus.

The Hand Weapon/Shield vs. Spear debate still continues, but I think a horde of spears is viable.

For the same points you could have 2 5-man units of Chameleons. Chameleons are the most effective warmachine/monster hunters and harasers we have and no list of mine is complete with out at least one unit of 6.

2 Stegadons (regular)

Two is better than one. As you have a horde of spears and a good size unit of temple guard, being able to sit back and plink away with your 2 bows could cause some damage.

Chameleons are lacking. They dont make of break a list but after a few games you will see their value.

For the most part you have a pretty solid list. Just a little fine tuning on the magic items.
