After some games with Slaan&TG, I realized that "Nuke Toad" approach is not my style of gaming...so I decided to go Combat Lizzies!

I decided not to use Saurus because of their low movement rate... everything moves, at least, 6"...

Scar Vet, CO, LA, Sh, Spear (or Halberd), BSB 142pts

Nice list all in all. I would drop the spear/halberd and shield from the BSB as well as the champion from the COR and give the scar vet the burning blade of chotec and enchanted shield. You'll then be exactly 2250 with a much tougher scar vet. I ran that exact unit (scar vet BSB with those items with 5 COR +mus+std) and only insanely bad luck (or the very toughest enemy units possible - ie black guard with ASF or hydra banner) can prevent them from obliterating anything they charge.

I'd personally steer clear of that Oldblood setup, because I think you really miss out on the OB unless you take the Blade of Realities. The Sun Scimitar and shield add a few more vanilla str 5 attacks, but they will always be just that, str 5 attacks. They won't hurt anything with really good armor, regen still effects them, ward saves still stop them, etc. Now send him out with the Blade of Realities, and you will teach hydras the meaning of fear. A hydra has a Ld of 6, the BoR will make them vanish for an opening act. Being able to just brush aside the big beasts is an incredible advantage. The 5 BoR attacks also make him better at dealing out pain to well-fortified models, and really effective vs. multi wound models.

Plain old str5 attacks are nice if you know you are going to be facing down a lot of elven infantry. But saurus and our other units can deal with elven infantry just fine. Might want to try a variety of weapon combos and see what you like best.

So...taking both comments in account, I came to this:

Olblood, Carnossaur, LA, Shield, BoR 446pts

Scar Vet, CO, LA, Sh, Burning Blade of Chotec, BSB 158pts

Skink Priest, EoG, Lvl 2, Dispell Scroll 415pts

TOTAL:2249pts

Minor tweaks...but the list is pretty the same!

However, I'm not comfortable by dropping the Champ in the CoC unit... it is an expensive upgrade, but it will protect the BSB in case of a challenge !

What do you think?

Cheers!

The BSB is pretty tough. The champ also prevents look out sir I think, losing him protection from the rather more worrying cannons.

This is correct, champions do not count as part of the requisite 5 rank and file models for "Look out sir!" I'd be more worried about a ranged threat to that unit, since they are cav and will be charging into favorable combats mostly.
