Hi there, I've made a 2000 pt army list. Any pointers to obvious mistakes, inefficiencies, or even an alternative opinion are all welcome. The army aim to throw some lore of light on the Temple Guard / Saurus block, charge in, and have the other units shooting up / flanking the opponent and siege destroying.

Slann Mage Priest (Lore of Light - was thinking hard between light/life!)
Focus of Mystery
Focused Rumination
Becalming Cogitation
Standard of Discipline
BSB + General
Cupped Hand of Old Ones

20 Temple Guard
Standard bearer, Musician

10 Skink Skirmishers

10 Skink Skirmishers

10 Skink Skirmishers

10 Skink Skirmishers

2 Salamanders (with en extra munchy for each)

35 Saurus Warriors

Saurus Scar Veteran
Light Armour, Great Weapon, Cold One, Dragonhelm, Dawnstone

5 Cold One Cavalry
Musician, Standard Bearer + Banner of Swiftness (+1 M)

Total cost = 1997

If you have the models, I would consider dropping the cold one cavalry. I would add 2 units of chameleons and maybe a unit of terradons. Cold one cavalry does not perform very well in the 8th edition rules. Especially with only 5. For them to be effective, you would need at least 10 of them (to cancel ranks). That would also be only if all 10 of them make it into combat.

Hope this helps.

Would a 16/2 SKrox unit be better? They'd be slightly cheaper, and I'd be able to afford a standard bearer/musician on the saurus unit (which I was loathe to cut).

That would work well. Skrox units make excellent flanking units. I would still like to see at least 1 unit of Chameleons or Terradons just in case you need a war machine hunting unit.
