So I just bought a few more models I havn't tried yet and I would like to try a few new tactics out (like running a solo slann), so let me know if something looks a little odd here...

Slann
Focus of Mystery, Rumination, and Higher State
Cupped Hands
BSB
(Death, Metal, Light?)

455

Skink Priest
Level 2
EOTG
Dispel Scroll

2x 20 Saurus Warriors HW Full Command

882

Salamander w/snack
Salamander w/snack

160

8 chameleon skinks

96

Total 1998

This will be my first time using Skrox and Stegadons. I want to give my enemy too many units to look at. And hopefully they forget about all the magic that I have until its too late. I would like to try Death to snipe some of the characters and then try to flank the weakened units. I may try running the slann in a unit of skink skirmishers but I can't decide. Any advice is welcome and any glaring problems will be fixed! Thanks.

Honestly it looks pretty solid. I would try to get enough points for 2 more chameleons and run 2 units of 5, but I dont even know what to suggest you drop.

The decision of whether or not to run a higher state slann in a unit you will have to base on your opponents army. If its a dwarf army with runed warmachines, or magic missle heavy, you will need to hide in a unit. You get the idea.

As far as which lore to take, all three of those are common lizardman lores for a reason, they all work well. Happy hunting.

I agree with Skillful Dan that 2 units of 5 chamos each would be a better approach. The points can be freed up by removing the champs from the units. Also, here a a few other ideas to consider if you want to run a solo death slaan:

1) exchange HSofC for divine plaque of protection - provides protection vs direct damage, magic missiles and magic shooting (dwarves, khorne cannon, WoC hellcannon, etc.) and 2+ protection vs non-magic shooting. HSofC does not protect from the magical attacks and let's face it, if the slaan ends up in combat of any type, it is likely he will be broken and run down even if he is immune to the physical attacks.

2) Std of discipline on slaan - the +1 LD will make spirit leech just a little better and when coupled with doom & darkness should result in a dead target.

3) "Look out, sir" - keeping the slaan behind other units will provide hard cover vs BS based shooting. In addition, if he is kept within 3", he will get a 4+ "look out, sir" roll. Coupled with the 2+ WS of the divine plaque, this will give excellent protection vs ranged attacks and allow your slaan to avoid combat more easily.

4) Drop the 2nd level on the priest to give him dawnstone to help keep him alive. While it won't work against cannons, it will do wonders against a lot of other things and allow steggie to smash into combats where the enemy only has S3 or S4 attacks.

As an alternative to the divine plaque of protection. If you are going to take death, a banehead is incredibly strong, doubly so since you already have cupped hands.

mostly true, but I've charged a HPA with my slann before, won combat because of the charge, and ran it down. Just saying that HSoC can be used offensively to great effect.

Agreed

Yeah, do this

I love this forum! You guys are awesome.

I will give the dawnstone to the skink, that is a really good idea.

But as far as the standard of discipline on the slann, I agree that it would work well with the way that I have asked you guys about the death FAQ. The only problem is that there is no way that my buddy is going to agree with that interpretation of the rules. I can see it now...

Me- "Ya, I know it says "unmodified" leadership but thats not how it works in this case. I'm not really modifying them."

Him- "Screw you. I don't think so."

Print out the FAQ and have it ready. He can't complain if you have the written rules for him to read.
