Hi there guys, I just recently got my hands in the new warhammer rulebook and decided that i wanted to get back to warhammer once again :meh:
I've been playing with the thought of having two lords in a 2250 pts, which is, if I'm correct, possible. You only need to be below 25% = 562,5 pts, right?
So this is what I've come up with:

Slann Mage-Priest
Rumination
Focus of Mystery
Cupped Hands of the Old Ones 370

Gotta give the BSB to a scar vet to save points though :(

Saurus Old Blood
Great Weapon
Armor of Fortune 192

Place this guy with some Saurus Warriors or even TGs and he'll deal some massive damage despite his "low cost".

That's 562 pts, and imo, it's some decent lords.
Tell me your thoughts :D

Both effective lords but no BSB. I believe the BSB says that if the frog is present then he must be the BSB. Not 100% positive as my book is elsewhere.... Just drop the Cupped Hands as a BSB is far more important.

The rulebook just says "may", so it's no problem to have a scar vet to be the bsb. I think that Cupped Hands of the Old Ones is just too good to give up. I never fielded a slann without it, and It's come to use in almost every game.

what lore are you going with? for life, i can do without it.

tbh though, i'm not sure this is really going to get you anywhere compared to having a maxed out slann with a scar vet instead?

The Slann I use is the same as yours but with BSB. I can see this has a lot of potential even though it's really not the standard build you see for Lizard armies nowadays.

I've wanted to try that before but never did. Giving BSB to a Scar-Vet isn't such a bad idea, in the odd event that your Slann bunker breaks from battle, he won't automatically die!!! The only thing I would do is make sure that the BSB as a good ward save and decent armor, so I'd give him a shield, HW, armour that gives 4+ WS or some kind of combo like that.

Also if you are running life and feel like going a totally non-mainstream path, drop cupped hands and give some more magical items to your Old Blood.

I'm not sure, depends on the rest of the army. This is almost how I gear my slann anyway. Missing cogitaion and moving BSB to a slann is the only difference.
But in return you get +1 W, +1 A, +AS, +1 I, for 60 points (cost of old blood compared to scar vet), which imo is worth it. But I'm not sure if it's worth it compared to what you're losing on your slann. That is what I need your opinions for :)

Not a bad build, in fact I've run Slann and Old Blood many times and been pretty satisfied with the results. A positive note about giving the BSB to a Scar-Vet is that if you role the scenario where if you drop below banner points you automatically lose if your Slann is your General and your BSB you've already lost 4-5 points if he's in a TG unit with a banner (Generals and BSB are worth 2 points each).

My only critique to these two lords is that I don't like giving the OB a great weapon as he's inititive 4 so he has better chance of going first/simultanious as most non-elves and before others like dwarves and Orcs. GW means he'll go last automatically. IMHO not a good trade off.
