AoS 1k square base starter list

Man it has been a long while since I last worked on my lizardmen. I've think I've caught the new book fever and have brought out my old lizard army. I have no experience with AOS, last real game was played during 8th edition from what I remember. Going over leaked rules I've put following 1k list together to build up from. Any good with new rules?

Slann
Skink Priest

3 x 10 skinks
20 Saurus with spears and command
5 Temple Guard
2 Salamanders and crews
leaves me 50 points for a spell (though have no idea how they work)

So above is about 1k in points. Big issue though is the above miniatures are on square bases. I have a good collection of lizardmen unassembled, you think it better to start fresh with round bases? In all y'alls experience does anyone care if an army has a mix of square and round bases? Is above list a decent core to build from?

I would rebase to rounds. Most events require them.

Any tips on rebasing to round? any chance there are pre-made bases aronud that I can simply slot the square bases into?

Going to pick up some more Army Painter tools and finish this old project.

Since you have to clip the models from their bases anyway I would recommend getting the bases done first (texture, grass, plants, rim colour) and just glueing the models when everything is completely painted. You would save way much time on the basing process.

Great idea! I'm looking into 2 options right now based on your suggestion. Sti file to have my friend 3d print bases for me or put my hand in pocket and buy some AZ-tec bases I saw on dragon forge. I think if i spend time painting up bases to a higher standard, the army painter dip method will look all the better.

New 1k list I'm thinking of:

Slann
Skin Priest with cloak of feathers
Scarvet in carnisaur

20 saurus spears
2 x 10 skinks blow pipes
5 saurus guard

2 salamanders and handlers

For 1k points is this a good base to build from to 2k?
