8th Ed. 1k list for starter tournament

Hey guys, after a long absence i'm back into warhammer and packing for my reintroduction tournament for WHFB.

I was thinking of taking this list:

Skink priest lvl 2 beasts dispel scroll
Skink priest lvl2 Heavens (for the -1 ld effext spekm combined with the panic causing abbilities of the sallies)

25 saurus warriors Spears, full command
10 skinks skirmishers javelins
10 skink skirmishers javelins

3 salamanders


I thought about replacing one skink priest for a scar - vet bsb with some toys and the salamanders to a ancient steg (maybe EotG?)

I Believe i had points to spare,
Help would be greatly appreciated

Looks pretty solid for 1000pts. Since your coming back you'll notice that a BSB may not be a 100% necessity but you'll definitely be asking yourself halfway through your first game why the hell you didn't take one. Especially after watching your opponent rerolling all his panic checks.

I would take a scarvet BSB with a great weapon and drop a salamander, maybe give him some magical armor if you have points. Put him in your saurus unit to take on monstrous cav units or other tough units and boost them best you can with your spells. Keep the augments/hexes spells.

Personnaly I would recommend bringing a Scar-vet with halberd/gw, and a steagin (ancient if you have the points) to really put the hurt on high armour save models. You'll generally find that a lot of magic will just get dispelled at this level, so I'd recommemd dropping one priest (Heavens) and drop a sallie, and run the other two separately. Other than that, it sounds good, should be able to deal with most things at this level, and just hope you get amber spear or Wyssan's from your priest! Having a stegadon and a hydra hit their deathstar ruins their game plan, massively!
