Oldblood in saurus block
Dragonbane gem
Armour of destiny
Seed of rebirth
Luckstone
Ruby ring of ruin
Great weapon

Skink priest
Level 2 lore of beasts
Feathered cloak

Skink priest
Level 2 lore of heavens
Scroll of shielding

15 saurus full command and hand weapons

Skink skirmishers with javelins

Stegadon
Sharpened horns
Unstoppable stampede

I know for a fact he's bringing lore of fire, hence the dragonbane gem, and hes thinking about bringing the hydra, hence the ruby ring. Any comments?

That is a lot of magic for 1k I would drop 1 priest and make the saurus bigger and maybe try to get more skinks or make the steg an old one with the engine it makes ur spells easier to cast and I've found that it's bound spell is incredibly nifty against elf light cav

Can't take EOTG, too many points for 1000
And it is a lot of magic, but the flying beast caster is there to buff the saurus, amd hopefully get off something else (kadon, spear) amd the heavens one is there to spam Iceshard, and anything else that it gets
I'd rather not build up the saurus block, as it has enough bodies to hold until my stegadon gets there in the flank, and the oldblood will start churning out ridiculous wounds (end up being s8)

Too many characters!!! Spend up to 350, maybe 400 points to characters!!

I've played with an oldblood and lv2 priest and that works perfectly, but i've spend up to 50 points to magic items with my oldblood! The rest was a unit of saurus, skinks, rippers and ancient stegadon

Just a heads up, the hydra doesn't have regen anymore, so fire won't be useful for that. It's got a special rule, after each "friendly" round it may regen wounds lost on +4 or something like that.

Ah yes good call on the engine being too many points. I would definitely take a lot of skirmishers then. They work wonders on just about everything

Ahh, thanks for the heads up on the hydra, may take two saurus/skinks instead
And I would take more than 10 skirmishers, however I only have 12 in total

I like taking a saurus oldblood with sacred stegadon helmet and talisman of preservation and GW
strenght 7 thougness 6 dont forget impact hits :D. I killed a big spider that had 8 wound only with that guy :D and he held 3 units

He might be running lots of dark riders in which case the ruby ring might come in handy anyway for clearing them out. Magic is iffy though I would ditch one skink priest, the ring and try to squeeze in a scar-vet cowboy (iirc they usually end up being 156pts or so) to hunt dark riders. They have greater range than skinks, probably +4 AS and will run circles around your saurus.

You invest a lot of points that require the stegadon to land a charge. If he brings bolt throwers (which he should) it's quite an attractive target, which reminds me, make sure the cowboy have ++4 ward save :)

Edit: And remember, you may only choose to use either ward save or regen, so that seed of rebirth on your old blood isn't going to do much good ;)

From what I hear, no dark riders, hes a total newb to fantasy, so this is a simple training game really. I think he's bringing black swords (or whatever they are), corsairs and executioners. And I arent too sold on the Cowboy, mainly because he isn't painted up yet!
