8th Ed. 1500pts New Player - critique/help wanted

Hi there ,Just making a list for a friendly game ,have only played a couple before so keen to try one of these lists out .Any recommendations/tweaks will be welcome

Both look really solid, but not sure how much of a friendly game they'll produce, most 1500 lists will have no chance of taking out that TG unit. I like the 2nd list the best out of the two, feel like that Scar-vet in list 1 could be tooled better, maybe something like: Cold One, Dawnstone, Burning Blade, Charmed Shield instead. Couple of changes I'd make in both lists is to drop the Standard of Discipline and shave some points off that TG unit, maybe going with 14 or 16 with a musician only and just adding more sallies/chamos/terradons or even another saurus block, Lore of Life TG are intimidating enough even in those numbers.

Cheers, the game fell through but have managed to line up a 2400 pts game .Will start a new thread..
In terms of how I made it I only have so many models ..I have basically what I listed but with a few extras ,and want to try as many new things as possible as a new player.
Would a scar vet with a shield,GW,Light Armour, crown of command,opal amulet work ? Basically used to hold up a block for a few rounds and kept alive with life magic ?
