Hey guys need a little advice and ideas for a 1500 point tourney list. here is the list as is.

1500 even. any ideas are welcomed as I would like to know what you guys think. =)
 
With the way you geared up your first Scar-Vet you might find that your designated Bane Head target might compromise your unit if you were tempted to pursue it. I would suggest that you just make sure you choose optimal positioning and targets for the whole TG unit over chasing down your Bane Head if it seems like it'll put you at a disadvantage.

Shield of the Mirrored Pool use to be a really cool item in the old edition since most incoming magical damage came from magic missiles. In this edition however it sees a little less use, while it's still cool to redirect a spell to the face of those who dare to challenge the will of the Old Ones I think the points maybe better spent to go towards a salamander.

The rest of the points for your sallie can come from your Skrox unit. I find that fielding a 16/2 Skrox is just as effective (if not slightly more) than fielding 24/3. They have better maneuverability and still hit pretty hard.

I find that most battles I fight have wizards that have higher leaderships and so Plaque of Dominion wouldn't have as much impact during a battle. With all of those regenarating and ethereal units out there I would suggest you take Banner of Eternal Flame just so that you have an effecitve way to counter that.

Ill take the idea on the banner of flame. Sounds good to me. I am curious as to your thoughts on the skrox tho at 16/2 how is that in horde formation? I go for a horde with mine and when i am in combat my skinks die in droves. I think that my main issue with 16/2 is if I throw that unit against anything other than other weak units it will not get its full complement of attacks also. I cannot downgrade as I would fall below the 25% rule for core. I could get more skinks but if I was going to drop my skrox unit to 16/2 I would just go for a saurus block instead as they are about the same points wise. Unfortunately I have no salamanders in my army as I built it in 7th ed so I had razordons.... but oh well. Definitely taking your idea about the standard tho and I will be sure not to chase after my bane head target but I hope to aim that twoards the best wizard or lord or hero that my enemy brings to hopefully get in a one shot kill and make my points back. I can also save my buringin blade points too as the vet would have flaming from that and give him ASF...
 
So I have redone my list a bit with your considerations. decided not to go with another magic weapon on the other scar vet. A little torn about putting a vet in the saurus squad. I am thinking of using that unit to bunker the lord killer. Dropped a chameleon skink unit but put another one in the other unit to make the unit a little harder because of it.
SO I guess should i keep the vets in the temple guard? or split them up?

I would say that splitting them up is a good idea. That way both your units will have a great support in CC. Quick note, horde rule doesn't work well for Skrox because your third rank would be basically the Krox again. If you rank up your unit like most people do then you would only get to extra attacks from skinks on both ends. Also, you might not want to go lower than 16/2, although to be perfectly honest, I've never tried it myself. I always like to have one Skrox unit to every saurus unit so that's not a bad idea, on the other hand you're already taking TG so you can just go with the Skrox if you wanted. In the end it all boils down to play style. I'd suggest you try both lists before the tournament and see if you like the feel of the Skrox (wether 24/3 or 16/2) and see what works best for you. In my experience I used to not think much of Skrox units until I gave it a shot. I played 24/3 a few times and they always died on me (I blame myself not the unit) and later I tried 16/2 and had great results (maybe I learned from past mistakes and it really wasn't the difference in formation). What ever it was, all I know is that afterwards I loved fielding 16/2s and they always make their points back... for the most part :)
 
I like tht ideea I have used skrox to middling effect as well either my opponent ignores it and goes after another unit or they get into combat and grid away.. I am not sure how I would get the points for 6 more skinks and a krox tho I plan to use the skrox unit a flanker and just a smaller unit hunter to break it with static res and hopefully make em scared lolI updated my list let me know what you think.

To be honest I don't like putting all of your Hero and Lord units in one Tg bunker. You have very little mobility, you could give the Slann the standard of Swiftness. Secondly, cogitation in a Bunker Slann?? The enemy mage will be 24" away from the TG but 25" away from your Slann, and Hello Dwelles, Pit of Shades or other Nuke. I'd Take a Solo Slann with Extra Dice and Highier state... Plaque of Dominion is nice when you have Death or Heaven Lore... Also Life is Mainstream:) I'd try to take cupped Hands and a Diffrent Lore like Light, and March 16" with your TG If you must have them, other than that They will be bombared to death.
Where are Your Salamanders?
And as for scar Veterans I'd take one hydra fighter or one Cowboy on a CO and a skin priest, with extra spell (Lore of heavens have some nice pure dmg spells)

Pleas tell me what is going to bombard a temple gaurd unit to death with a life slann? not shooting as most shooting is str 3 so barely can wound. WMs? they do decente damage bu that is fine if they waste it on my TG then my other units are safe and remember that life slann?he can bring back to life....magic? if its a magic missle it goes back to the wizard and the unit he is with if you look at my temple gaurd scar vet. So basically to reply to your staement of bombardment. I say Wms which we all have to wrry about nt just TG but thats why the chamo skinks are in there and big maigc spells which the slann will be taking care of with cogitation
. Also regarding the cogitation in a temple gaurd bunker while yes most enemies will be prepared for cogitation I get to move too and an extra inch can be managed by moving 8 inches. The odds of me being 25 inches from their wizard are pretty small as if they do try to bomb it will be one time and if he blows up thats fine he will take just as many as he kills and Ill dwellers him my turn =). If he doesn't IF the spell I dispel it with the scroll. IF he is a single flying wizard? then he will die by my chamo kinks before he gets to cast any spell.

Regarding slamanders. I would take them but unfortunately I do not have the models and do not proxy them.else I would totally take at least one for sure.

I thought the same thing for my heroes but then I figured my slann is going to be eating PD like a mad man with life so decided to get a lord killin scar vet and put him in the warrior unit. I think that between the sacr vets i sould have enough killy.

Well, What if the lone wizard is a Woch Wizard with 1+/3++ and the infernal puppet?:) Now, he will be hard to kill by chameleon skinks, and can take one some miscast with ease. Also, magic Missiles are a relict of the past edition, now there are lots of Direct damage and vortex spell and they don't get reflected:(
And as for the bombarding down the TG unit, well the first thing that comes to my Attention is the Empire, with a seal of destruction, and the Cascet of sorc.
And as for life, Its is one of my favorite lores, but it is very dependent on the throne, (+4T>>>>>+2T)
I once fought vs Shooty ogres, Maneaters with sniper poiton and Falming attacks have a fighting chance to snipe your Scar vets, Thier mobile Cannon with a 4+ sv and W5 will stood up to the skinks for a long time too.
But that is just my opinion, and thats why i like warhammer, so many playstyles!!!

But at that point with the WOCH sorc I will cogiation him until he runs circles around me lol plus I can imagine that he will be pretty epenive.... not to mention he only has a chance of getting infernal gateway... As to the rest your right there are general wekanesses but I have no diea who I am facing other than a DE. I am mainly focused on making an all comers list with good magic support good combat decent shotting and good leadership. You will most certaintly know how it went as I will be posting how I did =0.

If I may add,If You are using Death Slann, I'd go with Banehead on him. As for the Shield of the mirrored pool, Well'v there aren't many magic missiles anymore, most spells are Direct Damage or vortex spells, So I'd let it go, but put a potion of speed on the burning blade Scar Vet, just to put out that Hydra regen before It will strike(and lower the breath weapons str).
Spears aren't usefull In this setup, because as you said, this is the Anvill, so paying 23 more points for 5 attacks more and with no parry save, isn't good.
The Slann will be Solo or You will be in the Saurus Block? I'd rather see rumination on him(death Spells have a high CV) and maybe Crown of Command?
Besides this, you should do OK, allthough I'd rather see 2+ saves on those Scar Vets:)
 
I was thinking of using him solo slann. I really don't want my slann to blow up in a unit with death lol.

I see where your coming with the spears but I only really have models with spears modelled so I am kind of stuck into taking them but 5 extra attacks isn't so bad for 23 points. I would hope that it isn't too awful tho lol. I did get that sallie finally so I will be using him tho. =)

AS to the swapping of the slann's stuff I am topped out at 375 remember because of game size so I cannot get another discpline of crown of command or banehead. as I am running him solo I figured etheral would be nice rather than rumination.

As to the scar vet with blade. how much is the potion of speed? is ther another thing like enchanted item or armour that gives ASF? or higher INIT? I would rather get him something more benficial than a one use potion.

The Potion is 5 points. And I use a Scar vet with burning Blade, Dragonhelm, potio of Speed, seed of rebirth, La and Shield for 138 points. As for the Banehead, maybe You could do a Slan with 2 Disciplines? For Example Rumination and Etheral, and get either plaque of Tepok or Diadem of Power, and you will still have poits for the banehead:)
