7th Ed. 1500 allcomers for torunament

i have a tournament in 2 weeks at 1500 points. no comp restrictions but they want WYSIWYG wich is rather low because the organiser is the owner of the local hobby center who failed to deliver any terradons or salamanders so i have to play without them making both the lists i will post rather retarded. i have no ideea how to use chameleon skinks instead of terradons and i don't have time to learn that so i'll have to do without effective amrch blockers/herassers except skirmishers.
these are the 2 variant of lists i came up with that are WYSIWYG, i can get either more saurus or skinks but i doubt thats the problem, so just tell me wich one you think is better.

List 1:

Scar Vet, CO, LA, BBoC, ES - General

Skink Priest, lvl 2, EotG, Scroll, Rod of Storm

Skink Priest, lvl 2, Horned One (no cloak of feathers model), Plaque of Tepok

2x 11 Skink Skirmishers

2x 15 Saurus Warriors, Standard, Musician, Spears

1x 5 CoC Standard, Champion (i lose "Lo,S!" for challenge protection for the scar vet)

List2:

Scar Vet, CO, LA, CCoC, ES - General

Scar Vet, BSB, CO, LA, SH, Sword of Battle, Carnosaur Pendant (cheaper than SoSR or Sword of Battle + MS and grants 1 attack to the CO aswell)

Skink Priest, Lvl 2, EotG, Diadem of Power (or scroll, can only fit 1)

2x 10 Skink Skirmishers

2x 15 Saurus Warriors, Spears, Standard, Musician

1x 5 COC, Standard, Champion

I have 11 points left, i was thinking of the Venom of the Firefly Frog for the priest if it affects the whole steg it would give the crew poison attacks and the steg aswell to make them more effective in combat, IF it affects the whole model

as i said, i need WYSIWYG so i can only make minor changes to the lists, like 1 extra COC or 10 TG, i also have a model for a JSoD

so, wich one would you chose?

Id say the second list looks better, spending a lot of pts to get power dices for subpar heavens spell deck (and only 2-3 spells per caster) isn't very good in a tournament environment as you want an army that is as consistent as possible. I personally dont like the carno pendand over Maiming shield, sure its cheaper but frenzy is a bitch with 14" move (keep in mind that if you stick him with the saurus he might get forced to charged out from the regiment if the enemy us 9-14" away).

I strongly recommend taking out the champ from the CoCs, challange protection is a neat thing but LO,S! is essential. There are no Hero class characters that can pose a threat to a Scar-vet, in a challange there are VERY few guys that stand a chance against him, while there are lots of cannons, catapults and even bolt throwers that will 1-shot him with ease.

Oh and Venom does not effect the entire model, only Hate and Frenzy is transfered to the mount. I really like the lists, they are ballanced and not at all over the top, which is probably why you will have a hard time in an uncomped tournament, I played in a tournament with a similar rules pack (uncomped 1500pts) a while back using a Dark Elf list with 3 Peg sorcs, 4x5 DRs with xbows, 2 units of shades and a Hydra, which could probably compete at 2250 pts, and the only match I got beaten in was against a tripple Engine terradon bomb list, lets hope people take more friendly lists to your tournament !

Edit: Wysiwyg = What you see is what you get, which is very common on tournaments. There are different levels of WYSIWYG, but where I play your are usually expected to model every unit with the weapons they're using (including magical weapons), but magic item WYSISYG is often not too strict. I also means you can't "proxy", which is when you use empty bases or non-correct models that counts as something else. For example; you have no terradons but want to play test them, so you use some kroxigor models that counts as terradons.

well its more of a "gaming day" than a tournament since there will be either no prizes or nothing ubstantial to compell players to bring cheesy lists. we are expecting a DoC player to come as cheesy as possible as he usually plays like that, but the fuy who made the rules doesn't want to restrict army lists in any way.

also, we only need 75% WYSIWYG but no proxying 40x40 models unless you allready have 1 such model in the unit, thus i need 1 Terradon if i want to proxy another 2 or 3. we can alos use ptoxys for infantry and cavlary but only with models from teh same race, in my case i can proxy saurus warriors with TG (yay) or skinks with.... oher skinks that mostly look the same (yay again).

well given the fact that i have 10 extra points i could get the shield, frenzy adds another S4 attack tough wich can help but frenzy bating can be harsh. i could also place the BSB with the COC's and the scar vet with the saurus so i have the general Ld arround the center of my army, unlike my usual games where COC's go arround the flank.

i'm worried about challenges against unit champions more than caracters, when hitting an infantry block i'd rather kill as many models as possible, rather than the same ammount of wounds in overkill. the champion also has 1 extra attack that can help. the only war machine i'm gonna face is probably from a dwarf player i've never met. i still have to think about that tough

In game terms it means if the model doesn't have it modeled on them, they can't use it. So, if you have a Skink Priest and want to use the Cloak of Feathers, that model better be wearing a feathery cloak. If you want you Saurus to be a unit of Spear Warriors, they better all have spears. If your Skinks all have javelins and shields, they can't be used as blowpipe skirmishers and if you use them as skirmishers you are paying the upgrade of one point per model so they can have the shield and javelin. Like that.

would the Shield of the Mirrored Pool be more usefull than the Maiming Shield? i'd lose 1 attack for protection against magic missiles on the COC unit (probably, could also be saurus but i'd doubt anyone would target them so i'd deploy him with the COC). i can be nice against spirit of the forge and such spells, but otherwise... it might just be overkill, allready having 4+2 DD

Spirit of the forge is not a magic missles so you can't rebound it, but as CoCs are pretty fragile there is a chance that they will be the target of magic missles. Personally I always target skinks when I play against LM and Im always happy when opponents throw magic at something that isnt skinks (or contain skinks). I also agree that 6 DDs and a scroll should take care of spells pretty easily. Maiming or ES is better imo, if you are worried about getting shot to death then just screen them with something.

tryed the list out today... removed the musician and the champion in the saurus unit for a dispell scroll as my opponent had 1507 points and we wanted to get started so he said i get another 7 points... i played with 1501
played against WoC who had 4 units of hounds, 5 marauder horsemen, 20 marauders on foot (both with flails) 5 knights with mark of khorne, 5 knights with mark of nurgle, a mounted exaled hero and another hero on foot also 12 warriors
he outdeployed me by having 4 units fo hounds and the marauder horsemen on the table when i was deploying my heroes.
he killed a unit of saurus with the BSB with the khorne knights, skinks fought off a unit of hounds and hte others killed the horsemen when they charged. the steg killed the nurgle knights and terrored the warriors, the other knights and the last unit of hounds charged my COC's and saurus who were coming from the other side of the table and failed to kill me, he broke and i overrarn. by the end of his turn 6 (he began) he only had a unit of fleeing hounds and the mauders with exalted hero on foot in a house and he conceded.

i made some deployment errors andthe diadem and scroll were useless as he had no magic, but i'm quite contempt with the list
