AoS 1250 - listideas without salamanders

Hey guys,

I'm trying to make some somewhat competitive lists around 1250 points to fight the more potent armybooks like Tzeench or OBR, based on the Models I got finished in my display case. I'm "done" with the army and got everything that I want painted up. I'm not really into buying more models - especially ugly ones like Salamanders (the actual elephant in the room, though) - just for the sake of competing for one iteration until the next nerf.
There has to be a way to make this collection work! So dear old ones - please help me to withstand the universal habits of buying the best models in the book and show me a way to enlightment!

So we have the following models to play around with:

Slann
1x Kroak
1x Slann

Skinks
1x Skink Oracle on Troglodon
1x Skink Starpriest
1x Skink Starseer
1x Skink Priest
1x Engine of the Gods
1x Stegadon with Skink Chief (also playable as Stegadon with Bow)
30x Skinks
10x Chameleon Skinks
6x Rippers
2x Bastilladon

Saurus
1x Saurus Oldblood on Carnosaur (also playable as Scar Vet)
1x Saurus Scar Veteran on Cold one
1x Saurus Oldblood
1x Saurus Sunblood
1x Saurus Eternity Warden
1x Saurus Astolith Bearer
25x Saurus Guard
40x Saurus Warriors (the only exception in where I would paint 20 more)

1. Thunderstrike
Tbh I thought this list was a pretty good idea against Tzeench (doubleshooting Bastiladons), but I got completely crushed.

3. Saurus
I feel like I need a Slann or Kroak to maintain enough command points. While great against some armies, overall I feel like Saurus aren't the best idea going up against the premium books.

I guess I could change Kroak for a Slann + Skink Priest here, for an overall better combo-potential.

knights can be really goodie koalas claw. 7 attacks per model which i normally put serpent venom on.
maybe this at 1250?

the knights are the damage dealer. kroak can support with magic and the chameleons can threaten a deep strike and, with kroak, threaten heroes

Hey,
this is great, thanks for the answer. I really like that list. You could even kick 60-100 points for some endless spells for some variation if you feel like it.

Ofc I'm always open to even more ideas, don't feel scared off.
