7th Ed. 1000 Point List - New Player

My friends and I have decided to make the switch from playing 40k to Fantasy and I've chosen Lizardmen as my first army.

Here's my first list:

Scar Veteran w/ Light Armour, Maiming Shield and Burning Blade

Lvl. 2 Skink Priest w/ Rod of the Storm and Plaque of Tepoc

Lvl. 1 Skink Priest w/ Dispel Scroll x2

19 Saurus w/ Spears and Full Command (Scar Vet goes here)

12 Skink Skirmishers

11 Skink Skirmishers

5 Saurus Cavalry w/ Huanchi's Blessed Totem

If my math is right it comes out to 999 Points. I have the extra Priest with the Dispel Scrolls because I'll be playing against VC often and I understand a little extra magic defense never hurts against them.

Thoughts? Suggestions?

Give the Scar-Vet a great weapon and the Glyph Necklace. Give him Bane head as well, and a shield and light armor. --OR-- give him a great weapon, vemom of the firefly frog, charm of the jaguar warrior, light armor, shield and/or enchanted shield.

Drop the unit of saurus down to 17 with FULL COMMAND. GIVE THEM SPEARS. Put scar veteran in the unit, which makes 18 models. Then rank the unit 6x3.

Drop the Second Dispel scroll on the Skink Priest. Give him the Cloak of Feathers.

Make both units of Skink Skirmishers 10 strong.

Drop the Huanchi's totem on the saurus cavalry. Make sure the unit has full command (champion, std bearers and musician)

You will now have some points free. Not much, but some. With these points buy as many of the below as possible depending on how many points you have left (i've put in order of importance, but only based on my opinion and gaming experience, many points your list is aiming for, and what else you have in your army)--

-5 Chameleon Skinks
-A unit of three terradons
- A razordon or a salamander (Razordon if you fight skirmishing or fast cavalry a lot, Salamanders if you fight against block unit armies a lot, or armies with tree-spirits of troops with regeneration)
-More units of 10 skink skirmishers

Also, just to mention, you can't take the Plaque and Rod of Storms on same priest as they are both arcane items...
