7th Ed. 1000 Point Army A Bit of Everything

This is an army that I want to field against a friend of mine who is just starting out. My goal here was to include as wide a variety of troops as possible to help introduce him to the rules. It should be noted my goal here is NOT to win, although I will likely win anyways as it is his second game. If anyone sees a general type of unit or anything else important I have left out I would appreciate suggestions.

I deliberately stayed away from magic items; I don't want to make it too complex right away.

I'd propably try to cut something for a salamander.

Maybe some magic items, to teach him the importance of magic items.

Flyers is the type of unit you are missing, but it would be very hard to fit in unless you drop the Scar-Veteran.
