8th Ed. 1.5k Army list vs Skaven/VC

Hi guys,

I am trying to build a list I will run against skaven tomorrow night. Problem is I have no experience with Lizzies at that point level, so here is what I though I would field:

Slann 345
- Rumination , Plaque of Tepok, Devine plaque of protection , BSB

Skink Priest 115
- Ruby ring of fire, dispell scroll

Scar-Vet 125
- Burning Blade, Ench. Shield, light armour

40 Saurus with full commando 470

3 x 10 Skink skirmishers 210

6 chameleon skinks 72

2 Salamander with extra snack 160

What do you think?

Do I really need the lvl 1 caddy with my slann around? And is rumination more usefull than ¨etheral¨?

In this instance, if you are going to run the slann outside the saurus unit, you should take 'etheral.' However, Rumination is almost always better than etheral.

I think the priest caddy is well worth the points and you should take him. The ruby ring will come in handy if you face an abomination (hate that thing).

I would take another discipline instead of plaque of protection. Let "look out sir" keep him alive. Plus the Life lore attribute.
I would not take a Slann without Rumination.
Ethereal is of very little value against Skaven because they have tons of magical attacks.

I don't see the value, especially of the bound spell. Are you really going to divert dice from the Slann for d6 hits?

Scar-Vet 125
- Burning Blade, Ench. Shield, light armour

To survive an abomination, he needs more defenses, and that likely means a ward save. And/or put him on a cold one.

I was thinking about bunkering the Slann in a unit of skinks, does it make sense? What lore would you recommend? And actually david is right, I remember that the skaven weapons (almost all of them) count as magic attacks ;/

The ruby ring is for the things like the stupid abomination, usually people forget about it and it is also useful to sometimes to suck some dispell dice.
Considering the scar-vet you might be right

Odds are the abomination won't care about the ruby ring. Wound on 5s means about half the time you do zero damage. Doing 1 wound ensures it won't get back up, but the ring won't do much towards actually killing it.

yes the rings intention (besides to rule them all...) is to not let the abomination come back again.

Hi,

I thought I give a little feedback on how my first 1.5k game go.

I played essentially the list above, but I took i think 35 Saurus, 3 Units of skirmishers (10,11,12) and made the Slann 'ethereal'. I took light and faced a WoC army. The brought, a hero, a lvl 4 magican both nurgle both in a block of warriors. some knights, 3 skull crushers (I believe its their name) and a chariot.

Results first: I won, in the last round, the slann won me the game.

Here a very short summary:
I was able to distract a little bit his knights and to actually shoot of 1 or 2 with my skinks, his chariot was killed by the slann as it fleet and the slann caught it
I lost all my skinks because I mainly used them as chaff. In his 5th turn he charges in the front of my saurus block (which had +1 A and asf by that time) with his skull crushers and the warriors. The knights have been fleeing all game....

The close combat was weird, I rolled really bad on hitting and killing (ok, he was nurgle...) but really good on my parry saves. My Scar-Vet could not kill the nurgle hero and died... I lost the battle close combat very high but was steadfast and I hold.

Now comes my last turn.. by this time I think I had lost the game, because I lost all skinks and the scar-vet and he lost only his chariot... nevermind... I charged with the slann in the flank, which gave me a static +3 (attack, flank, BSB) AND he actually killed a warrior with his single attack. So I loose 6 or 7 Saurus, we both have a standart, he has 3 ranks I have 3 (or 4 ) together with the the causalities I did to him, I win by two! His skull crushers flee, but I can't get them. His warriors flee, but my block is not able to reach him.... BUT the slann rolls an 11 and kills the block of warriors + sorcerer + hero.....BOOM... game over, literally...

I was pretty happy. I did play a little bit to aggressive and to sloppy with my skinks and I by far did not use the the full potential of my slann (magicwise). On the other hand I rolled pretty bad for all my salamanders and I wasn't told that the skull crushers are frenzied... that would (probably) enabled me to redirect them in the beginning of the game and slow them down AND they (probably) would not have made it in the close combat since they had to kill some salamander on the flank... blablabla... i won so i was happy.

Now I am thinking about the size of my block of saurus. I am acutally thinking about reducing it to around 25, leaving one unit of skirmirshers at home and bring a block 24+2 skrox. What do you think... because one I loose all my chaff I have the block to stand for its own, and (even with chaff) I have nothing to support the close combat ...

A midsize saurus brick 24-28 and a flanking skrox is a solid combo. the S6 attacks are great for handing heavy armored foes.

It will be my second game on 1.5k and the second with a Slann, so I was thinking about trying to check out skrox... but I am not sure whether this is little bit much of experimenting

I really like 3 Krox and 24-30 skinks.
The frontage is 6 skinks with 3 krox behind.
Mainly because rolling 9 attacks gives you a better chance of actually hitting something.
