The never-ending battle against woke Hollywood and SJW infused entertainment media [trigger warning]

To answer The Drinker's question: yes, it's nostalgia bait.
As for the cheap... well, let's say i'm sure that the man didn't returned because of gratitude. :p
In his defense, he did say that it wasn't going to be cheap to retain the services of RDJ.

the funny (?) thing is that i would watch a movie with RDJ starring as Doom.
But with the current state of the art, i don't think i will.

Agreed, the MCU brand is badly damaged at this point. This is an act of desperation. It will pull some percentage of the lost fanbase back, the question is how much... and for how long?

Hope for the MCU? Hope for Hollywood (minus Star Wars)?

I'm going with pessimism.

Pessimists are happier than optimists because 90% of the time they are right and 10% of the time they are pleasantly surprised.

With the tiny reputed changes rumored to be occurring at Marvel behind the scenes, I believe there is now an 80% chance I will be right and a 20% chance I will be pleasantly surprised.

A reasonable assessment. It might still be a long shot, but the cultural winds are changing. We'll have to see who leads the way.

doublethink
[ duhb-uhl-thingk ]

noun
  1. the acceptance of two contradictory ideas or beliefs at the same time.
This really applies to A LOT of planks on the woke agenda.

To be fair, I don't believe it's exclusive to the Left. We had a lot of doublethink under the Bush administration, but I was a Liberal back then.

If the political spectrum flips again, I'll switch with it...again.

Sounds reasonable.

I wouldn't label myself right wing. I have views that fall on both sides of the spectrum. However, the left has gone so crazy over the last 10 years or so, that I'm forced more towards the right wing, not because I'm right wing, but because I am anti extreme left.
