What are you doing today hobbywise?

Thanks! Like I said I have to build and paint two more and then add water effects. I've seen so many amazing ideas over the years it's tough holding off stealing them lol. My Tomb Kings really want the headdress that Sleboda came up with but I haven't made the time to do that much sculpting.

Well today I signed up for my first Tournament and so the preparation begins. :bookworm:
It's a 2000 point 3 game event using the current GHB. I have 50 days to make sure my list is ready and fully painted, the biggest task being buying and painting a Realmshaper engine but other than that the list is pretty much done. I have 3 Aggradon Lancers (almost)painted and looking to add another 6 more. The rest is just finishing touches and basing. I think mental prep is likely going to be the biggest hurdle but we'll come to that when it comes.

I'm experimenting with making my own contrast paints. I wanted a yellow for my Dark Eldar wyches but I haven't been happy with how they've been coming out. Two part paint, two part matte medium and flow aid. So far it's been a win. Well done on the bases NIGHTBRINGER, it's the little touches that make things come together.

Okay, I'm going to post this here in case others want to help/expand on this idea. I like AoS and I like WFB and I want to be able to use my orcs/orruks for both... so... an experiment.

This is a scrapbook punch (30mm to fit the top of a 32mm round base), alongside my (now broken - I'll explain) 25mm punch:

To this, we add: 25mm MDF bases/discs, and the key to the whole thing... Iron Foil. Yes, IRON foil, like aluminum, but - this is key - magnetic!

Take a 32mm round base, cut a piece of iron foil (don't use the scrapbook punch for this - it might be foil, but you'll still destroy the punch - I finally had to use a hobby knife), glue foil to base with superglue:

Take mdf base, drill holes, glue magnets in holes:

end result........ meh? The foil is plenty magnetic, but I think my magnets are too small, so back to the drawing board?

The idea behind the scrapbook punches (32mm and 25mm) was to make rings out of thin cork or cardboard or something to help keep the mdf centered on the bases and provide a place to put basing materials (and help hold the iron foil down as well)...

Great idea! looking forward to the end result.

Grrr, !mrahil

So... I snagged a set of Morgok's Krushas on ebay for a reasonable price. Catch is, a previous owned had converted Morgok with a weapon he doesn't officially have... so I re-converted him.

This is what he's supposed to look like (center mini):

Sword in both hands, but the one in his left hand is in that weird inside-grip position. Luckily, I have piles of Brute parts lying around!

It isn't perfect, but at least it fits the general look he's supposed to have. :)

Picked these up on ebay about 15 years ago. Maybe I should start painting them up for my dwarf army.

Flame Cannon

Dogs of War are the best so you should always paint them. The flame cannon has been the most random war machine I don't even know if I like it or hate it. In 7th I liked it but seldom used it. In 8th I hated it and never used it. Nice looking models though.

I do miss my Dogs of War army from 6th edition. Might be why, in AoS, I gravitate to picking up Underworlds Warbands, which I treat like old-school Mercenary units.

Picked up a Leman Russ for my Skaviir Dominion army (more on this once I decide if I want a Punisher Cannon to go with my Exterminator or something else), and i'm waiting for a "biggie piggie" to come in the mail. One Maw-Grunta? Yes, please! If it goes well, I might order a second one! :D

I used the Warhammer Armies Project for rules in 7th and 8th and was happy with them. They weren't going to crush all Armies but were balanced well for the most part and felt like the old rules enough that I was happy.

Those War Machines aren't Dogs of War though .

The Flame Cannon has always been a standard Rare unit in the Dwarf Army List, and I'm sure the Goblin Hewer was designed for use specifically by the Slayer Army of Karak Kadrin as part of the Storm of Chaos army list written for them.

The goblin hewer was put into the Dogs of War list. The flame cannon has always been a dwarf army thing. I was using the phrase 'them' meaning Dogs of War and not meaning both War machines, I can understand the confusion as I phrased it rather casually.
