On a side note:
During medieval campaigns, because of the lack of hygiene in encampments where toilets and cooking were often done side by side, stomach problems and explosive diarrhea was often an ongoing problem. Many a battle was fought sans trousers due to this problem.
They don't show that in the movies. Ranks of archers, many trouser-less, stains down their legs....
