This is exactly why he was created, to do exactly this over time get out of my head lol. I'm still debating on how to use them or what to use them as, but definitely going to have Mammoth people/Elephant people eventually.

There is a race of elephant monks mentioned in the Lumineth battletome. My lore I'm thinking is that somehow they are the descendents of Ti'Lanka or somehow related, but Haset earased all memory of him. So literally no one but her and the Hathorians remember him from that ancient time (and no one after cause... well protected secret type of thing).

(Speaking of elephant people again)Im think they may be more of a ranged based race? Where Hathorians are more melee? So giant bows, and i dunno what else yet. Still in major brainstorm mode!

Giving the elephant race missile weapons would be the obvious way to differentiate between them and the Hathorians, and that could still fit in with their 'monk' lore - look at Chirrut Imwe, he's a monk and he looks pretty darn cool with his Lightbow:

Yeah, definitely! I got the BR box + I had 1 Ghorgon already i hadnt built yet (some bits were used for my Living Mountain Shrine). BoC has always interested me due to Minotaurs and such, I just dont necessarily like that they're just naturally "evil"

I can understand that with the idea they were based off Satyrs and Fauns which were more neutral, and Kings of War's Herd army list for them portrays them as neutral nature protectors rather than savage despoilers, but I do like the idea of GW's canon portraying them as the 'dark things in the woods' that men have been afraid of for millennia even in our own world, and that they represent the dark side of man's instincts. I'm writing my own army book for them for 8th Edition Fantasy (because GW didn't give them one thanks to them being biased toward Warriors of Chaos from 7th Edition onwards ), I know you're an AoS man but if you ever consider getting into Fantasy, I'll tag you to it when I upload it to the forum.

Yeah the Minotaurs are particularly awesome models, I did like the look of that Butcher Herd box, though I already have the Shaman and one Ghorgon from the SC box which is enough for my army plan (I aim to have a couple more shamans but different models - the Tzaangor Shaman model and the other Shaman from the Beastgrave warband when it's eventually released in its own separate box).

I have them named as Manoks/Manok, going off the way the tribes people called Mammoths in the movie 10,000 BC. Definitely will need to find that entry again, its very brief.

Definitely! I was honestly thinking of using the Aelemental Wind Spirit's bow, though that'd be pretty expensive for just bows, so gonna try to hunt some down individually.

Oh, I totally agree! I do love that comparison, I just wish their were the more noble/honorable side of Minotaurs/etc which are often main themes with them. Even Kaz from Dragonlance was honorable even tho fighting for forces of evil originally.

Painted for the first time all week and worked on my raptor rider a bit. Did a few skin highlights with Celestra Grey to bring out the raised areas a bit. Also did some slight eye work, adding the beginning of slit. The raptor is in a pretty good spot, real happy with the coloring overall, though gonna try to improve her a bit still.

As for the Huntress, just two base colors for now. The plan is for a Zandari Dust like color for the clothing, and I am planning to do the skull like south western painted cow skulls; adding some color with the feathers once done.

A really fun model.

Ive had this Eternity Warden conversion staring at me for a bit, so decided to start it and take a small break on the raptor rider.

Chaos black primed and then used Terradon Turquoise to under coat before applying Sotek Green as a base. From there i used Thousand Sons Blue on the scales with a highlight of Temple Guard Blue, another light wash of Terradon Turquoise to bring it together i think or Coelia Greenshade maybe. For the gold i went a bit darker with Balthazar Gold, I plan to highlight with Retribution Gold & wash with Reikland Fleshshade.

Kinda working on a few projects at once, and not only did I want to get back to this one but @Imrahil also requested it! So we're back to working on the Hippogryph a bit!

Been working on her beak, horns and hooves a bit, bringing more color to those spots. I still need to decide how to do the eyes and if i want to color the Phoenix eye symbols (zoom in and you'll see what I'm speaking of). Overall, i love this model and super happy to be back at it. Gonna work on some gems and such soon I think!

Also going to be working on my Lord Regent a bit soon!

The eyes is a bit difficult, because eyes of an eagle are a bit yellow-ish brown with a black pupil. I am not sure that color shows enough against the beak and head. But the black part might do well.

I cant seem to find the Phoenox eyes you talk of(or I don't exactly know what you mean by it) There is a lot of gems though...

Hey everyone! Hope you are all doing well, I haven't posted in awhile, and truth be told I haven't done awhole lot of hobbying lately.

However, I did promise to fo a small tutorial on the stripes I did on my Lord Regent's mount, so I went and did just that! I still want to do a video, which is why I have only done one side so far, so I hope this will help for now.

I couldn't find anything GW wise that i have that has the same smooth skin, so I'm using a cheap Prehistoric Mammal toy I had.



Step 1. Prime: Originally I used Chaos Black, but this time around I went ahead and used Chorax White. This will give me a brighter look, but still achieve the same results overall.



Step 2: Base - I used Skarg Brown, gives a nice light base brown. I enjoy this brown because its easy to alter, I like to make it into a more red-brown with Reikland Fleshshade or mixing it with a red layer. It can easily be changed to a more earthy/bark brown with Aggrax Earthshade if you prefer.

Step 3: Make your "Guidelines" - I call these first lines "Guidelines", as they are your guides to the beginning of your stripes. These lines do not connect to one another.



Step 4: Make the shape of the stripe - Now with your "Guidelines" done, you can choose how you want your stripes to be: Thick, thin, connected, singular, pronged, etc. I typically go mostly singular with a few pronged/different to break them up.


Step 5: Fill the Stripes - Pretty self explanatory, i just used the same color to fill it in, but thats up to you.




Step 6: Outlines - Outline the now filled strip, this adds depth/helps blend easier to the base, making it eaiser on the eye (imo).



Step 7: Wash - I for the first wash only do the stripes, layer on i will do all over the body. The Reikland Fleshshade makes the Skarg Brown fairly dark, so waiting to put a wash all over will help keep the fur/skin colors different enough later on. Don't want to darken the base too much.



Those are the steps I do for my stripes, and hope to work on improving! I know it's not a video but i hope it helps.

This final picture shows all the colors used + a comparison of the two. Obviously the one isnt as dark due to the primer color + not washing all over/multiple times, but the stripes themselves look similar to my original I think.
