Blog Suds 2021 Catch Up Blog!

Not so much a painting update, but more of a "Hey! I got a cool item i wanna show!"

I picked up this, near mint condition, old Lustria campaign book which focuses on the Rise of Sotek, when Engines of the Gods were introduced, etc. The art work is awesome, AND it shows how to make some awesomw terrain (Spawning pools, statues, and more)

Really happy I picked it up

Nice! I have it softcopy, but there's nothing like having the hardback.

Nice! I came across all my old whfb lizardmen books all the way back to 5th edition I think, the one with the Steg on the cover. It's fun to read through old lore and see the art. The new Kroak model took a lot of inspiration from the art in that old book for sure
Its so fun reading through it, i wish the new books were like this lol

Well, I haven't painted in probably a week so I sat down and have painted for roughly 20 minutes or so... its almost 3am so probably gonna go to bed soon. However, before I did I wanted to work on Lord Ka’Rapixca some.

The two areas i added a bit to were his hands/feet and under his chin.

To his hands I did a highlight of White Scar on the raised parts with Pallid Wych Flesh in the crevasses. After that dried (or maybe even still tiny bit wet) i did a very light wash of Apothecary White

Under his chin I wanted to add a slightly brighter hue of green, slightly watered down I applied sparingly Moot Green. Slowly building the color up until adding a light wash of Tan-biel green to blend it into the darker greens arond it.

I'm liking how its looking with the additions

What do you think? Any C&C in general?

I really like the colors you've gone with. The only thing I would suggest is painting some darker green in the recesses around his belly to visually separate his hands and feet from the body. Looks great so far!

Agree, looks pretty great!
Have you thought about giving him some gloss? His skin looks a bit dry for a toad. :)

Look what finally arrived :)

I can now start to fully plan my unique engine of the gods for my Unirontosaurian! I am really excited for this, I've been on a small break from painting while waiting (minus some work on the Slann which is on going).

I may do a sketch for it, but I'm not 100% sure or if I'll just do as I do and just go full head in and build from the vision in my head. I am also debating if I'll put more than 2 skinks on the howdah itself as the engine may take up a lot of space of the main platform.

We will see how this goes :Do_O:):p

Good thoughts, ill definitely do maybe another targeted dark wash or maybe some Caliban geeen.

Thank you!

Oh definitely agreed lol I was planning to do the ardcoat at the end which should give it that wet feel

Hey everyone! Been awhile since I posted here since I broke my painting up a bit (maybe a mistake, but felt like I wanted to organize all my new projects a bit instead of a new thing popping up all the time). My Slann is still on going but close to being done, going to build and prime the Stegadon skinks soon probably. I also have cork that i can use to begin planning the base some.

But, I wanted to share something new, a kitbash. This is my Custom Eternity Warden & Oldblood. I used two oldblood/scar vet weapons to make his unique weapon (not quite sure what to call it), and his decorative backware are spare bits from a Conquest box I have that i decided would look the part, they are bones with feathers on them; he didn't grow wings lol.

I might attempt heavy contrast on him, which I normally never do. We'll see, or I'll just do as I normally do.

Whatcha think?

Awesome!

GW should definitely add flying Saurus to the Lizardmen army lists.

Just think "Space Marine Assault Squads" but with lizards.

Why not? If the Skinks got a few more Coatl feathers! They could have flying attack legions! Special upgrades!

Funny enough, I do consider them Coatl/Kotal feathers lol they may not give him the ability to fly, but they do protect him from magical harm!

Slowly we're making some progress! After finishing the Triangles of the totems up top I have begun the first side armor piece, I really think it's going to be gorgeous.

As Animosity III begins I may shift focus back to the Hathorians some and try to make/finish some units of theirs ive been neglecting

What do you think so far of the engine and such?

It looks so good. Those blue and green triangles match very good with the Gold you have got going on.

Looking forward to the rest of the Engine :)
