AoS New to AOS, go skinks!?

Hello,

So i am just getting into AOS after years of lurking. i got myself 2 Start Collecting Skinks, 1 The Celestial Stampede and a Lord Kroak. As well as the Codex.

I obviously want to make a skink list but was wondering. Is it possible to have a 100% skink list?(shhhh Kroak is a skink) I see many lists running Saurus Guards and Saurus Astrolith Bearer, i can understand their usefulness but would still prefer skinks only.

Planning to build for sure 2 Bastilodons with solar engines and 1 engine of the gods in order to make Thunderquake Starhost. Now wondering what to do with the other sculpts. Leaning towards boltspitter/buckler skinks for ranged harassment walls to protect my big dinos. Ripperdactyls to go pick out annoying units in the back. Not sure if i should build a 3rd bastilodon with solar engine or an arc of sotek and a stegadon with (i have no clue) of a skink chief or not and a skystreak bow or sunfire throwers.

Also wondering what i should purchase next to fill holes in my future army. While considering that Kroak is getting a new sculpt, i assume it is safe to bet some other models will get a revamp as well (hopefully (looking at you salamander and all the saurus)).

Also also, i have no clue how spells, artefacts and warscrolls/batalions really work (yes i know i said i wanted to make thunderquake starhost)
 
it is possible to run a full skink list + kroak but the astro is one of the key units that make kroak as terrifying as he is.
always take buckler and blowpipes it is the best choice in almost every situation. rippers on the other hand are going to disappoint you, they are clunky and very week. they used to be powerful and GW over corrected in the new book.

as for getting new models i would temper your expectations. so far all we have seen is kroak and there is a good chance thats all we are getting

Sorry to disappoint you, but new kroak model arrives in a month or so. I hope, your local group would be ok with you using old kroak as a slann after new model release.

You can make a solid list even without any slann at all. Just skink starpriest, priest and starseers as heroes could be enough. Obviously, it will be weaker against top-meta, but still very strong.

Bastiladons should always be with solar engine, but you don't really need three. You can run three, of course, if you are a big fun of bastiladons, but 2 is enough in most cases. You can make 3rd as Ark only for collection. It is terrible on table.

Make second stegadon a chief with a skystreak bow. You won't regret it.

Make terradons, not rippers, from flyer box. Terradons are way better. Sunleech bolas > javelins.

You'll need 3 kroxigors or a pack of salamanders/razordons. 2 bastiladon with solar engines are very strong with run and shoot. You will need a priest to support them and krolak to generate cp. Both eotg and chief are good as main monster. Give them cloak of feathers as a second artefact for battalion. Best spell for kroak to start with is stellar tempest. You can forget it if you don't need it later.
 
what should i field for capturing objectives ?
 
Currently with kroak you can run 280 skinks. With a regular slann you can run 290 skinks I am currently trying to make a total wave holding block piece to have a bunch of skinks in the shape of a tidal wave and a starpriest on a surfboard. I don't run severely competitive builds so someone remind me how much a starpriest is?

If I'm correct you can drop the slann as well and replace with a normal skink priest and with the extra 180 you can get 30 more skinks. So a total of including the priest at 321 skinks or am I wrong on the skink priest price
