GW News: LAS VEGAS OPEN 2025

I like the ogor one though, it actually seems a decently coherent force. Though why does it contain a gargant?

Probably bacause if you pick a box with a gargant and maybe you already own one, you can later buy also some SoB.

"people who already own a (few) gargants and with 1 more might be tempted into starting a SoB army, as well as wanting to get a good chunk of Ogors" Seems like an awefully specific niche target with a battleforce though :p

Especially this close to the release of SoB, you'd think everyone interested in them would already have bought their armies.

Do you think it's true what I've heard people say about battleforce boxes being determined by which factions are selling the best?

Because at least for age of Sigmar this definitely seems to be the case. KO and Tzeentch are both at the top of the meta and I'm sure have been selling like hotcakes as a result. Gloomspite gitz got two additional upgrades this year in the form of new sub-factions or battalions. Not sure about the ogre one though, I don't know how popular they are. But I can't help but notice that it has a gargant, maybe they're trying to encourage people to add the big guys to their existing destruction armies?

Either they sell the meta, or they happen to have overstock.

Every single year, in 40K, there is a Tau box. Are they meta? Or do they have to clean space? Tyranids are not meta and they got a Battleforce two years in a row

In AoS, Seraphon are meta, and we only got the first Battleforce last year. Skaven are not meta and got their BF last years.

No one really knows what is going on when deciding to make a BFs.

.

Well, of course the battleforce has not been made with that purpose, but if the question is "why a gargant instead of a second cannon?"... SoB is brand new, so any purchase that includes something that fits SoB is a possible bonus.

Also is the KO one just the aetherwar box with 2 extra ships? I mean, it's nice in combination with the aetherwar box I guess, but it also feels lazy.

Aether War box with different Named Hero, additional Gunhauler and Frigate.
Also for those who missed out on the Aether war box, something to make up for(if they didn't want the Tzeentch half though)

Does somebody know the chunk out of my wallet it will take to get one of these?

Grrr, Imrahil

I guess. It still feels odd though to include stuff in a battleforce that has no inherent synergy. Maybe if they'd gone all in and just made a "destruction" box with a variety of factions it might've looked less odd. Or at least if it was more like chaos where slaves to darkness units can get the appropriate keyword to be fitted into a tzeentch or khorne army and benefit from at least some of the potential buffs.

Ah, didn't notice the hero being different. At least that's something I guess. Though imho they should've should've gone all in on the boats. Now you have a low model count but you don't even get a full fleet. Just throw out the skywardens/endriggers & the hero in exchange for another big boat.

No clue what that thing is supposed to be... plague furnace?

Would have love to see an Adeptus Mechanicus starter set this year. Or better yet, Bretonnians :sorry:
A miasmic magnifier, improves your defenses while in cover near it (-1 to hit or something)

The next GW preview this weekend is obviously going to be Nurgle and Slaanesh-themed given the title and colour-coded words, but what could they possibly release for either faction? The only thing I can think of for Nurgle is that they're going to preview some stuff for the upcoming Death Guard Codex, while Slaanesh had a very recent battletome and that set pitching them against Daughters of Khaine has already been released, so I can't imagine what GW will be giving to them. Emperor's Children for 40K are also out of the window for at least the forseeable future because the next Codex after Death Guard and Blood Angels was confirmed to be for a Xenos race.

I think it’s likely slaanesh mortals for AoS since from the box that was released that seems to be the new focus. The death guard codex is likely as well. It might be wishful thinking but it would be cool if they released a new daemon primarch for emperors children.

It’s unlikely they’d release a massive load of Slaanesh mortals given Hedonites already have their Second Edition Battletome, and the Broken Realms books are mainly there to give rules reworks and updates to existing models, rather than bring rules for new ones.

Meh, I guess they could release an equivalent of Kairic acolytes. Or maybe a slaanesh-y warcry warband? That still seems minor enough that it won't need a new tome. Though even that is pushing it. Plus, it wouldn't exactly be a grand release if it's 1 unit.

Sigvald...

Yep, when I first saw the silhouette on the tab to the release article I wondered if it would be him, because the sword just looked so Sigvald. Another of Warhammer Fantasy’s least interesting characters brought back into Age of Sigmar at the expense of all the cool ones...

The Myrmidesh Painbringers look decent, but the other unit their kit can make is just too weird, pretty much Slaanesh Forsaken. What do you think of these Slaanesh mortals @NIGHTBRINGER?

Also I wonder where their rules are going to be released? Slaanesh already have their Battletome, so I can only imagine there will be a Broken Realms supplement revolving around Brad Pitt’s Chaotic twin brother.

On the 40K line we have a major let-down regarding the Xenos Codex (why is it GW so often favour the less interesting more humanoid Xenos like Dark Eldar over the cooler more alien Xenos? It’d be just typical if Craftworld Eldar, Harlequins and Tau get their Codices after that and Orks, Tyranids and Genestealer Cults are left until last), and some boring stuff for Death Guard and Dark Angels.

In fact the only thing that’s decent in this preview is plastic Treebeard, but he had been in need of a plastic model for a long time, so I’m pleased to see him:

I’ll look forward to adding him to my Middle Earth collection at some point!
