What are you doing today hobbywise?

I got more done on my ruined building. There is a WIP picture on my blog. I also started repainting 5 termagaunts that have been sitting around forever. Maybe this will be the edition that finally makes tyranids worth playing again. (I've been disappointed with them since the 5th Ed. Codex came out.)

I picked up painting the heads and weapons of the Ancient Treelord and the Spirit of Durthu.

Keep in mind that these are self inflicted battles. Even my personalities are social distancing eachother :D

I’m doing the same right now with my Tyranid playtesting. I’ve just seen a Hive Tyrant and a Carnifex Thunderstomp a unit of Orc Big’Uns into oblivion...

Still searching for an affordable copy of the 8th edition Lizardmen army book... Those are priced pretty high.

WAY too high. Even for the holy canon of the eighth... ;)

Search for a PDF. PM me if you don’t find one.

I’ve found a website which hosts PDFs of pretty much all the Fantasy volumes, so I can also help you here if required. More recently I also discovered one with PDFs of most AoS books too.

As I am sort of a collector (which is never good for my wallet)... I ordered a second hand Lizardmen Army book 5e edition and a Rulebook WHFB 8e edition. Both for a reasonable price, in my opinion.

The 5th editon book is in:

A quick flick through revealed a lot of Fluff, so that is great.

I made a mistake on the WHFB rulebook:banghead::oops:
Turned out to be 7th edition and I already had the 8th edition lying around

Yesterday I almost finished the Treelord's optional heads and weapons. Just a little touch on the gem in the sword of Durthu and it is done.

Probebly right in time for this month's goals ;)

Duty watch day again. Whilst I brought along the Corvus Cabal warband to paint again, I also got the itch for a "civilized" beastmen army idea, so I wrote up two army lists - one Beasts of Chaos, the other Cities of Sigmar - for as close a comparison as I could.

Amusingly, over the course of doing so, I came across Crocodile Games' War Gods miniature range, which includes a lot of Egyptian-themed beastmen at 28mm heroic scale. Kind of a fluke that I found it while trying to look for non-GW anthro bird heads (partially to satiate an interest in dragon ogor proxies based off of demigryphs), but the more I think about it the more I may consider sticking to the Egyptian theme.

Well, at least you didn’t buy another 8th Edition one thinking you didn’t already have it :p

I’ve played 7th Edition as well as 8th and there are things I do like about it over 8th - no Horde rule, Magic was less broken, there are more unique Magic items for each race and fewer common ones, e.t.c

I was looking at these as possible ideas for Settran Legionnaire proxies for playing my unofficial Nehekros Imperishables army list here, given that the lovely plastic Tomb Guard set has alas been executed by GW. Nice models too, with all the most prominent gods covered.
