Hello boys and girls and welcome to Let's Get Motivated - December 2019

This thread is too get us motivated each month into finishing projects that we have on the go, the rules are fairly simple.

At the start of the month post what you intend to try and finish this month, it can be models/terrain/conversions of any game type. No pressure if you don't finish anything this is for motivation nothing else.

Around the middle of the month post your progress, no images please, if you have want to share your progress with images, upload them into your blog and supply a link.

Around the end of the month post your progress, again no images, if you have finished a piece upload the images into your blog and supply a link.

The reason I don't want images in this thread is too get everyone that takes part views in their personal blog where the community can critique, etc.

You don't have a paint blog? well get one started in this forum section.

If you need advice etc post here and the community will try and answer.

I'm looking forward to seeing everyone share their progress

Note: Previous months can be found in the vault http://www.lustria-online.com/forums/the-vault.40/

Alright this month I’ll have a little list I wanna finish and hoping to start maybe finish list.

What I wanna finish:
-Warcry starter set terrain
-Cleaning, assembling/magnetizing the second hand Salamanders/Saurus

Want to start:
-painting both warcry starter warband

Will be a busy month been the Holiday and everything but I do have a good amount of time off and some project I can bring along with me at work.(I travel for living)

Best of luck to everyone!!

I REALLY need to finish my terrain piece for the competition on December 14th... I also would like to finish my Stegadon this month. I have had that model for about 3 years and it has remained mostly unpainted... I'm tired of not having it finished!

I am also going to Ikea on Sunday and buying a glass display case (the Detolf for all 2 of you who are interested) so I need to get that set up. I plan on adding extra shelves and adding lights to it to have all my models on display! It should look awesome, but it might be a bigger project then I intend it to be. I don't know if this thread is strictly for model stuff, but I will def post pictures on my blog when the display case is up and running!

I'd like to do the following this month:

- finish another 2 Saurus Knights
- get real progress on my Orc Megaboss
Or
- start assembling my Stegadon

Gr, Imrahil

I didn't manage to paint my Blood Bowl Lizardmen last month so that's my plan for this month I guess.

How are the sculpts? I have only seen pictures of them online but they look great from what I can tell. Are you running them as a Bloodbowl army or are you converting them to Aos?

I use them for Blood Bowl.

They are quite detailed and - at least in my opinion - look good and fit Blood Bowl nicely. But not everyone likes the googly eyed Skinks or the chameleons. They do look a bit goofy.

Yet another month with nothing done!!!
This is me...

Who is sponsoring / running a terrain build competition?

Make that all 3...
Does IKEA deliver and set up?
I am kind of a long way from an IKEA.

My local hobby shop. They collect random toys and stuff throughout the year and you pull anything you want from the pile. You then cut it up, glue things together and paint it to make one cohesive terrain piece. All the terrain submissions will be used in a 40k charity tournament. If I place in the top three of the terrain comp, I will win a nice chunk of store credit :D

The store also has a massive collection of paints and modeling supplies I can use so it's really any money out of my pocket for the event. If you are interested, I posted my initial WIP photos on my blog here: http://www.lustria-online.com/threads/childishknight’s-machinations.23418/page-3

The Detolf is all glass so the pickup price is $60 BUT if you have it delivered (at least to my area), the price goes up to around $200 :oops:. I don't have one near me, but it's worth the 2 hour drive (4 hour round trip) to the closet Ikea to save 150 bucks. I convinced some friends of mine to come with me so it will be a fun road trip! As far as I know, they do not set up if you have stuff delivered, but it's 4 walls, a top and bottom and some shelves... not too complex from what it looks like. The lights and extra shelves might be more of a process to install though....

I just “read” through the wordless instructions. Looks like a 2 lizard job.

$49 dollars to deliver. Two would be $60 + $60 + 49 delivered. I guess I am not as far away from an IKEA as I thought.

Do the sell extra shelves? It looked like there are only three available shelf positions?...& Spot welded, fixed shelf supports.

There are aftermarket shelves you can get and cheap LED strip lighting to run along the inside. I'm sure there are videos and tutorials from people who have actually done it on the internet. I haven't looked very hard to find more info about modifying them

Did some research and found this: https://www.igorkromin.net/index.ph...a-shelves-to-the-ikea-detolf-display-cabinet/

He also has an article about dust-proofing the cabinet: https://www.igorkromin.net/index.ph...lay-cabinet-to-keep-your-collection-pristine/
