I need more.
Picard in civilian garb having a tantrum... <shrug>

The movie was pretty intense, I think that's what made it good. And Picard completely out of his comfort zone.

It was the one where the Borg go back in time to prevent the First Contact with the Vulcans. The Enterprise follows them to prevent that.

It's a great movie and got my vote in the poll. Also, it's the movie that got me into Star Trek. Prior to watching First Contact I hadn't seen any of the movies or TV series.

Good pick for the first ST content to watch!
The interesting thing about the Star Trek movies is that they are all quite different, and despite being of varying quality every single one has some interesting aspects to it that makes it worth watching at least once.

My favourites beside First Contact are (not necessarily in that order)
- The Wrath of Khan
- Insurrection
- The Voyage Home
- Generations

I said Generations, because that was the first Star Trek film I saw and I just loved how we got to see Picard and Kirk interact and the general transition from the Original Series cast to the Next Generation, but it's a hard choice between any of the Next Generation films in my opinion (yes, even Nemesis as it was more Picard-centric like First Contact and Patrick Stewart was just superb as always).

Am I the only person who thinks Wrath of Khan was underwhelming? Maybe it was because I have the original theatrical version or something, but I couldn't see anything about Captain Kirk and Khan fighting in space other than the battle between the Enterprise and the vessel Khan stole. I enjoyed Search for Spock and Voyage Home a lot more personally. However, I don't think Wrath of Khan was the worst - Star Trek the Motion Picture takes that post for me because while it's interesting seeing the Voyager probe mutate into something sentient, the whole 30-or-more-minutes spent simply cruising slowly through space to reach the centre of the nebula or whatever it was containing the Voyager probe is just so boring to sit through. I've never seen that in any of the other films, not even V, often deemed the most loathed of the Star Trek films.

The Kelvin timeline feels more like Star Wars in some ways to Trek, so while I don't hate it, it certainly isn't as good as the Next Generation films and most of the Original Series films.

Oh and another interesting thing about First Contact:
Jonathan Frakes (Riker) directed it, like some of the best episodes of TNG.
And I also heard that he will direct a few episodes of the new show (ST: Picard), which gives me some hope for that one.
...but he also directed some episodes of ST: D so ymmv. :D

This is an impossible question, i see the reboots as new movies entirely. I mean, the first reboot was great, but nothing really beats the Wrath of Khan. Uughh,,, Wrath of Khan i guess!

Fun fact about Star Trek movies:

Star Trek fans can sometimes almost be as rabid as Star Wars fans concerning the movies, and the opinions vary quite strongly.

One example: While The Voyage Home (4), The Wrath of Khan (2), and First Contact (8) frequently make up the top three of most beloved movies, with Nemesis (10) and The Final Frontier (5) being at the bottom, there are a lot of discussions about the others.

Example list from some guy at IMDB:
https://m.imdb.com/list/ls070924514/

I admit that I would order them radically different in some parts. For example Insurrection (9), I put that one in the top5, while The Search for Spock (3) is one that ranks rather low for me.

And I agree that the three most recent ones are...different. Hard to compare to the others because they are very different in style IMHO.
That means that they might be quite nice for people who don't know Star Trek, but hard to accept for old fans. To a big part it comes down to whether you like the style or not, and whether you can accept the difference compared to what you know and love.

I admit I was among the people basically boycotting them first, but then my wife bought the DVD of one of them for a few bucks, and I have to admit that they do excell in some aspects.
