Warhammer Meme thread

We play Lizardmen and Seraphon because it's the least we can do to honor them...

Man, I just realized I am a HUGE nerd, I instantly recognized that picture as coming from the (awesome) webcomic SMBC by Zack Weinersmith.

@Papalugy
I'm not sure how I feel about you always putting multiple memes in one post. On one hand I like that you arne't trying to pad your post count but it's making it harder for me to give you the likes you deserve.

liked it a lot.

Thought it was clever

Don't get it.

Tau people are horrible is over done a bit and this image was so small it was hard to read, even with magnification.

I didn't find this funny enough to justify the language.

That's pretty par for the course for a lot of your posts. There is usually one meme I like a lot, one that I think is okay, one that sails over my head and one that I mildly dislike. Usually you start with your best memes and then work your way down.

Indeed, it is. Especially with this edition, which is aroud since some time.
Sure, Tau are only shooting and that can be frustrating, but they are far from an overpowered army, and certainly i find more frustrating to face Nurgle lists with Epidemius, 90-120 plaguebearers / poxwalkers, 9 foetid bloatdrones and a bunch of nurglings
But apparently, people with that "playstyle" don't have the same bad rep of Tau.

@Scalenex when this thread was created everyone was posting their memes in blocks so I've just been rolling with it.

This is referring to the fact that Salamaders take great pains to protect the Imperium's civilians. Their Chapter Master once beat the shit out of a Space Marine Captain who had shelled a refugee camp because there were Orks in the perimeter.
I'm pretty sure that the Tau one was more a joke about certain kinds of fans not Tau players in general.

As somebody who doesn't play 40K but has read and talked about it a lot already I do think that it is also bad reputation from earlier editions.
I heard that years ago there were some really cheesy tactics possible with Tau, and IIRC one of their transport ships.
It seems that some players haven't gotten over that despite it having happened years ago.

Weird people, those 40k players.

Yeah, very easily it's as you say.

And now, back to memes.

Fish of Fury, IIRC. Although it wasn't the most abusive list by a long shot. I don't recall playing against it.

For me, they got annoying because I tended to play primarily close combat armies and they would shoot me off the table if they went first, or I'd go through them like poop through a goose if I went first.

So basically people were blaming bad game design on the Tau players instead of blaming GW.

Now there are just really cheesy tactics possible with all Imperium and Chaos armies.

So basically people were blaming bad game design on the Tau players instead of blaming GW.

To be honest there's been bad game design since 6th with some Codex authors buffing armies to infinity and others nerfing them into the ground, but 8th is certainly far worse than anything that preceded it, except perhaps 7th (neither of which I play)

Fish of Fury may have been bad game design, but Tau players didn't have to abuse the shit out of it. And yet they did, and they did it to the point it that the community started hating all Tau players for it.

Well... I don't know...
It is a bit like telling a Seraphon player that Shadowstrike and Thunderquake are OP and cheesy, and that they must not use it.
(And yes that has happened to me. "Seraphon=OP cheese army" they said. And then played the KO "Clown Car" list...

If a tactic exists and it is legal, then why should I hate anyone for using it (or even hate someone who doesn't use it, only because others do)? It is GW's job to change it if it is bad.
I know nothing about the tactic except the very basics, but given that it is a GW game I wouldn't be surprised if it was the only viable tactic of that army, and (over-)used because of that?

keep in mind that Fish of Fury was a thing in THIRD and 4th edition, and stopped working from the 5th, disappearing at all from the 6th on. Now it's the 8th edition.

but hey, this is about memes, and given the current topic…
