As for the death battletome, the hell are they going to add there? We already have a ghost faction, a faction led by "sane" (as far as a vampire can be) vampires utilizing the usual zombies, necromancers and skeletons & a faction of "insane" vampires filled with the more monstrous stuff. What undead faction is left?
Hate to be the bearer of bad news but that question was asked a few times at adepticon. It was at first turned down as a "nope" then ignored twice more. The only chance he has is an updated battletome with nothing new probably or a new original army that has similarities or lore from tomb kings.Well, I still have hope for the return of Settra and Tombs Kings so one of my best friends can play AoS with us (It's been his army since it first appeared and he refuses to play any other army).
Probably too much similarity with regular undead. I mean, a significant part of their roster is essentially "skeletons, but with fancy egyptian hats".I wonder why they have kicked Tomb Kings... along with Lizardmen and Skaven it's probably their third most unique non-typical-fantasy-trope army from WFB. Weird of them to dump in when it seems part of their move was to get away from generic fantasy stuff...
I agree that Tomb Kings probably felt too similar, especially with the fluff of AoS, where there's just one undead realm and Nagash is god-king of all of it. But, I also think GW is trying to move away from pseudo-real world looks for their various fantasy armies. Which might be one more reason why Tomb Kings got the shelf.Probably too much similarity with regular undead. Also, the genuine interesting stuff can easily be integrated into a general undead army. Two out of 4 mortarchs are tomb kings. Though why they didn't include more of the unique stuff (possibly in an adapted form) is anyones guess..
I wouldn't be surprised if egyptian themed stuff is also relativly hard to copyright. Stuff like a spinx, an anubis statue gollemn, or mummies are all fairly common in various mediums. And there's only so many variations you can make on those, especially as long as it needs to be kept egyptian-ish.I agree that Tomb Kings probably felt too similar, especially with the fluff of AoS, where there's just one undead realm and Nagash is god-king of all of it. Did he mention a time frame?AHHHH!
Pretty sure we just got our confirmation for a Battletome.
The new episode of StormCast (the podcast) just came out as an interview of Jess Bickham (head of studio for Age of Sigmar) and at 48 minutes he stated "New Battletomes for every existing faction, and of course new factions as well."
