What are you doing today hobbywise?

Also forgot to mention a few days ago where the manager of the stables I go to (haven't worked there for a while because of my head and everything) asked me about miniature collecting because her grandson wants to start collecting and painting, I did mention about the free sessions and stuff but it's an expensive hobby, in the end I also suggested the bigger kits from companies like Tamiya and Revell as they are easier kits due to the larger parts. He likes dinosaurs so if he does get more involved we may get another Seraphon collector.

Does he want specifically to start playing collecting and painting Warhammer then or just any models?

A cross-post from my project thread.
Got around to priming more models for painting.

Gotta have fun with model positioning.

Still keeping with the high tech theme, kept up in part by an interest in fielding a Kasrkin-like force since 3rd Edition, all of my "normal" infantry for my army are tempestus scions. Not one in favour of the baroque "platemail" look of the default plastic kit's carapace armour, I opted to kitbash Cadian torsos, Tempestus arms, weapons and backpacks, and third party legs and heads from Anvil Industry (specifically, Unity Council Marine heads and Armoured Legs).

This will also be my standard loadout for the squad: 2 plasma guns, 1 meltagun, 1 hotshot volleygun, 1 voxcaster, and a Sergeant wielding a plasma pistol and power sword. As befits the mechanized nature of my army, they'll eventually have a Taurox Prime to ride in.
Whilst I anxiously wait for the release of the Titandeath expansion to Adeptus Titanicus, along with several armament options to become available, I figured I'd at least start painting the models I currently have.

Granted, Legio Xestobiax, the legio I'm painting these as being part of, considers the smaller Warhound-Class titans to be a waste of resources, and instead prefers the larger Reaver- and Warlord-Class titans. Between maintaining a handful of Warhounds and being a small legio in general (50-100 titans at most) however, I'd be willing to argue that these are among the legio's only Warhounds.

I think it's just any model, he saw his friend painting them and wanted to also do it. She did say chances are he won't be building them, he will get his grandad to do that. He does like dinosaurs though so the brands to choose from is a bit smaller.

For hobbywise today, busy building away. Just got my HeroForge model delivered, it was a surprise really as I didn't get a posted email but here he is.

In a painting binge last night, I powered through a number of endless spells, finished painting the base of a vindicare assassin, applied a green base coat to my five Salamanders firedrakes, and touched up the redemptor dreadnought's legs before finishing their assembly.

ADDENDUM: The dreadnought is now mostly assembled. I still need to work on the weapons and frontal glacis.

Worked on three Deimos-pattern rhinos for my Salamanders.

So far, I've got the hulls built, and will be adding the tracks once I'm done painting. As for the top hatches, I will be equipping them such that each rhino will have a multi-melta for 30k and a second storm bolter for 40k.

Nearly there with the kits, it's mostly a few repetitive kits like the box Night Runners, Saurus and Skinks left. Do have a few to finish off the Stegadon's crew, Thanquol and Boneripper and possibly a few others. Got some metal and resin miniatures left but they are more the fiddly ones, especially the flying rippers from Forgeworld.

Another day, another order. I've planned out how I'll be building an 8-man squad of Salamanders veterans with power mauls: use Salamanders Legion Pyroclast models as the base, and supplement with vanilla Mk III parts (specifically, right arms, backpacks, and bolters) and greatmaces from the Stormcast Sequitors kit I've been cannibalizing for parts. Since a fair amount of the Salamanders models I'm building for 30k are going to be co-opted for use in 40k as well, I think I've also found an additional use for my 10-man seeker squad with combi-meltas as sternguard vets.

As my hand is finally getting better I spent last night cleaning my desk and getting it ready for action.
So I might get to paint something this week, maybe even today!

First tasks: finish the Mortis Engine and the Carnosaur.

Built a helmetless Vulkan He'stan, with the head supplied from what's left of a previous box of space marines.

I also took some time building dreadfire close combat weapons for a Bray'arth Ashmantle/venerable dreadnought model.

I painted something last night!
(A few parts of my Mortis Engine, example below. Only the green parts were already done before yesterday. Still lacking a few highlights and weathering, but almost there.)

I also helped my wife to glue together her (pretty nice) Sisters of the Thorn.

Doing that I noticed that my thumb is already alright for painting, but not 100% for cutting stuff from sprues or for shaking colors, that still hurts a bit.

Painted and based 40 more skinks with 4 different paint schemes in something like 10 days.

With the exception of the backpacks, the rest of the parts I needed for the power maul-equipped veteran squad arrived in the mail today, along with a Mk IIB land raider, pintle mounts for the rhinos, and some skin wolves models I thought looked gorgeous.

So far, 4 of the 8 veterans built are now merely in need of the mace heads and backpacks, whereas a fifth needs a bolt pistol as well. The remaining veterans still need to be assembled up to the same degree.

Because Salamanders-specific shoulder pads were also included in the shipment, my sternguards/seekers are now ready for their first coat of paint.

I painted and assembled like a madman!
The Mortis Engine is almost finished now.
Missing only two small parts and a few highlights.

Almost finished building the Mk II-B Land Raider. Looks like I'll be spending the rest of the weekend finishing up my vanguard vets and getting more painting done.

Today I will test my list for the incoming apocalypse game based on the Devastation of Baal.
The sparring match will be vs Necrons.

Want to mess around with the spare parts in the bit box so be prepared for some more Seraphon creations, probably some more fluff related armies. So there will may be that 5th one I've got a theme for. Should really get around to writing some stuff for all the Seraphon armies at one point.

Got started working on a Salamanders Chaplain model to represent Xiaphas Jurr for 30k, using a pristine Chaplain Xavier as the base for the conversion (Xiaphas Jurr is equipped with a power maul, iron halo, and storm shield).

Almost finished my razordon, just waiting for the base to dry to add final touches.
